Lead times refer to how many days in advance customers make reservations. In the context of Mews Operations, hotel managers, revenue analysts, or other staff responsible for reservations and performance analysis can calculate lead times as the difference between the reservation creation date and the arrival date. The result shows the number of days. 

By understanding how far in advance customers book their reservations, you can adjust pricing, promotions, and availability to maximize revenue and customer satisfaction. 

The complete the flow in this article you need to have the basic knowledge of Excel.

In this article you can learn how to calculate the average reservations lead time within a specific date range:

 

Step 1: Export the report to Excel

  1. In Mews Operations:
    • click Reservation report on the Dashboard, or  
    • go to main menu icon  > Reservations > Reservation report.
  2. Under Mode, click Detailed

  3. Under Filter, click Overlapping

  4. Under Start and End, click to select the date range. 

  5. Click Export, then Export to Excel.

  6. Click Exports, then click icon .  

 

Step 2: Calculate lead time of reservations

  1. In Excel, open the spreadsheet you downloaded in Step 1

  2. Click the Reservations sheet. 

  3. Click to select the entire Arrival column. 

  4. Right-click anywhere in the Arrival column, then click Format cells

  5. Click Date, then click OK

  6. Repeat steps 3-5 with the Created column. 

  7. Create a new column and set column title as Lead time

  8. Click to select the entire Lead time column, right-click anywhere in the column, then click Format cells

  9. Click Number, under Decimal places enter 0, then click OK

  10. In the first cell of the Lead time column, enter a formula that calculates the difference between Arrival and Created. Once you select the first cell, double-click the bottom-right corner to apply the formula to the rest of the column. Note: The calculated values in the Lead time column represent the number of days

  11. Find the average of the Lead time column. 

 

This calculates the average reservations lead time in days, within the interval you configured.
