Encoder busy full error message

Someone else is currently using the encoder that you are trying to create a key with. Please wait until they finish and try again. Sometimes you might get this error if you are logged into the key software.

Why does the encoder busy error message pops up?

The encoder busy error message pops up on three scenarios:

  • When there are two key creation commands being issued for the same encoder device simultaneously: when two users are trying to create keys at the same time, either directly in the lock software or in Mews.
  • When the user from the key cutter integration in Mews Marketplace is also logged in on the lock software application.
  • If you are using Vision, the error message pops up because the VingCard workstation / unit that is creating the key has a user logged in.

How to fix the error

  1. Check if someone at the property is trying to create a key on the same encoder – either in the door lock software or via Mews – and try again.
  2. If your door lock software requires a username and password in Mews (check the relevant key cutter set up guide), log out of the lock software and log in with a different username and password.
  3. If you are using Vision, log out on the workstation/unit that you have selected to encode the key.
  4. If, after trying both of the above, you continue to see the same error repeating in Device Commands Queue on the same day, for different spaces, reservations, and encoders, then you may be running duplicate Mews Connector applications at your property. Read more about duplicate Mews Connector.
