You can organise your reservations on the Timeline using the Optimize space allocation feature. It helps you: 

• Save time: Automatic organisation and optimization of your reservations. 
• Get a clear overview of your availability: View all reservations, arrivals, departures, room changes, and other events on the Timeline. 

This feature is available for Enterprise packages only, and functions only in Hourly and Daily view. 
 

Note: If you have any nested spaces at your property, i.e., spaces within spaces, you need to optimize your space allocation manually.

To view the Timeline in Mews Operations, 

• Click the  icon on the Dashboard, or 
• go to the main menu  > Reservations > Timeline.

Optimization criteria 

When you optimize space allocation on the Timeline, the system follows certain criteria: 

• Locked reservations do not move. 
• Mews considers the reservation assignment strategy that you select when you configure your bookable services , for example, Bottom up, or Top down. 
• Mews automatically includes and allocates any reservation created during optimization, to an optimal space.  
• The system does not take into account guest preferences.  
  • Mews recommends you lock reservations with specific guest preferences. This way the optimization process does not move them. 

 

How to optimize space allocation on the Timeline 

To optimize space allocation on the Timeline: 

1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu  > Reservations > Timeline. 
2. Choose a two-week duration for optimization. Mews optimizes the next 14 days from the first day shown on the left of the screen.   
3. To move to your chosen date,  

• click the arrows,  
• or click to select the date on the calendar drop-down. 

Mews optimizes fourteen days from your selected date. For example, Optimizing fourteen days from 13/11/2022 to 27/11/2022, as in the screenshot below: 

 

1. Click the   button. Note: You can preview the changes before you confirm them. 
2. Click Apply changes. 

This optimizes your space allocation on the Timeline.  
 

 
When you click more than once, Mews presents you with different space allocation options each time. Repeating the optimization helps you find space allocations that make the best use of your spaces’ full capacity. This helps you maximise revenue. It can also: 

• Identify opportunities to adjust reservations so that you can make spaces available for higher value bookings. 
• Organize bookings to optimize housekeeping efficiency.  
• Help reduce the risk of overbooking, by ensuring you do not double-book or underutilize spaces.
