Connecting your key encoders to Mews Operations is a great way to cut down on check-in time and simplify processes. After you set up the Vision integration, you can cut keys directly in Mews Operations without ever needing to use the Vision VingCard software.

NOTE: The manufacturer no longer supports this product. You can still connect, but Mews is unable to give any assistance and therefore recommends you upgrade your door lock solution to a more recent version.

System requirements

To use the Vision integration, you need:

  • A Vision license that supports property management system connections.
  • Your 8-digit license code when you set up the integration in Mews Operations. If you're having trouble finding your license code, contact Assa Abloy support for assistance.
  • To install the Vision VingCard software and Mews Connector on the same computer at your property.
  • If you have not installed Mews Connector at your property yet, you can see our help article for instructions on how to install it here.

How to set up the Vision integration

Step 1: Install and create the Vision integration

Before you can set up the Vision integration, you must install the Vision VingCard software on a computer at your property. To run the Vision VingCard software:

  1. Open the Vision VingCard Software on your computer and login with your admin credentials.
  2. Go to System Setup > System Parameters > PMS - TCP/IP, and:
  • Select VTCLink enabled and ensure Current status is "Running." If the current status is "Not running," click Start VTCLink.

3. In the Options section, click Address mapping. Make note of the PMS Address for each encoder, which you need again in Step 2.

To create the integration:
  1. Open Mews Operations.
  2. Go to the main menu Screenshot_2.png > Marketplace.
  3. In the Facility management category, under Key cutter integration click Explore
  4. Click Connect integration.
  5. In the Name field, enter “Vision.”
  6. In the API URL field, enter http://127.0.0.1:3015.
  7. Enter your Vision license code in the Username field. Note: If you're having trouble finding your license code, contact Assa Abloy support for assistance.
  8. Leave the Password field blank.
  9. Click Create and then click OK

Step 2: Set up the Vision key cutters

After you create the Vision integration in Mews Operations, you can set up your key cutters.

  1. In the Vision integration settings, click Key cutters.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. In the Name field, enter a name for the key cutter based on where it is located or a name that your staff can easily understand.
  4. In the Identifier field, enter the PMS Address that you found in the Vision VingCard software in Step 1.
  5. In the Data JSON field, enter the following: {"Type": "AssaAbloyVisionKeyCutter", "UserGroup": "Regular Guest", "UserType": "Single Room"}.
  • In a hostel environment, where you need to create duplicate keys for guests arriving at different times, enter: {"Type": "AssaAbloyVisionKeyCutter", "UserGroup": "Regular Guest", "UserType": "Single Room", "DuplicateKeyAllowed": "True"}.
  • By default, the User Group is set to Regular Guest, and the User Type is set to Single Room. If your Vision solution is set up differently, you need to update the JSON to reflect this.
  1. Click Create

Repeat steps 1 - 6 for every Vision key cutter that you use at your property.

Step 3: Map the Vision key cutters in Mews Operations

If your space numbers in Mews Operations and Vision VingCard do not match exactly, for example, "004" and "4" is not an exact match, you must create key cutter mappings for all of your spaces.

  1. In the Vision integration settings, click Key cutter mappings.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Under Room, select a space number from the drop-down list.
  4. In the Lock identifier field, enter the corresponding space number as listed in the Vision VingCard software.
  5. Click Create.

Repeat steps 1 - 5 for every space that you need to map in Mews Operations.

Step 4: Activate your key cutters

  1. Go to the main menu Screenshot_2.png > Marketplace > My subscriptions.
  2. Locate your key cutter integration, and click on Edit to go to the settings page.
  3. Select the Enabled checkbox.
  4. Click Save.
