Applying surcharging fees through Mews Kiosk

You can charge surcharging fees to a customer when they use payment methods, such as a credit card. You set up these charges in Mews Operations to pass on the credit card payment processing costs to guests, to recover part of these costs.  Once you set up surcharging in Mews Operations, Mews Kiosk automatically applies it to your payment terminal transactions. You can configure the surcharging setup in Mews Operations and adjust it at any time.  

Note: For legal reasons, surcharging is only available in Australia and New Zealand. 

To set up your surcharging fees in Mews Operations follow the instructions here. 

To apply surcharging fees through the Mews Kiosk you need to: 

• Connect a payment terminal, and  
• Select Balance check enabled in Mews Operations, 
  • Settings > Services > Stay > Kiosk > Options.  

Mews Kiosk then applies the lowest configured surcharge fee regardless of the card type used for payment. For example: 

If you configured the Surcharging service in your Accounting configuration to: 

• Amex: 3% 
• Mastercard: 4% 
• Visa: 2% 

Mews Kiosk applies a 2% surcharge fee to all transactions.
