How Mews Channel Manager sends rates and restrictions to connected channels in Mews Operations

Once you enable a channel, Mews automatically sends your rates, availability, and restrictions to it. You do not have to push updates manually or copy anything between systems. This article explains what Mews sends, when it sends it, where to check that a change has landed, and what to do if something has not synced as expected.

You use this knowledge every time you change a rate, adjust a restriction, or open or close availability. Knowing how updates flow means you know when to expect the change on the channel side, and where to look if it does not arrive.

How Mews Channel Manager sends rates and restrictions to connected channels

What Mews sends to connected channels

Mews sends the following to every connected channel:

  • Rates: The prices you set for each rate on the Pricing screen, adjusted by the channel's rate modification factor if you have set one. See Using the rate modification factor.

  • Availability: How many rooms are available to sell on each date, for each space category.

  • Restrictions: Rules that limit when and how rooms are sold, for example, minimum length of stay, maximum length of stay, closed to arrival, and closed to departure.

Mews sends this for every date in your open selling window, up to the maximum days of forward inventory shown on the Channels screen, for example, 224 days.

When updates are sent

Updates are sent automatically. You do not have to trigger a sync yourself.

Where to check that a change has landed

To confirm a change has reached the channel:

  • Channel status widget: On the Revenue overview, the cell for the affected space and channel briefly shows Updating while the change is on its way, then returns to Synced. See Monitoring channel status.

  • Channel audit log: For a record of exactly what was sent and when, open the audit log for the channel. Every rate, availability, or restriction change appears with a timestamp. See Using the channel audit log.

  • The channel extranet or public listing: For the final confirmation, look at what the channel is actually showing. Sometimes there is a lag between what Mews has sent and what the channel displays to guests, especially for restrictions.

What to do if a change has not synced

If a change has not appeared on the channel side after a reasonable interval:

  1. Check the Channel status widget for the affected space. If it still shows Updating, wait a few more minutes.

  2. Open the channel audit log to confirm the change was sent from Mews. See Using the channel audit log.

  3. Check the channel's own extranet to see if the change has been received on the channel side.

  4. If the change was sent from Mews but not received by the channel, contact Mews support. Include the timestamp of the change and the channel involved.

What to do next

To manage rates and restrictions confidently across your channels:

  1. Set your rates and restrictions in Mews as usual, using the Pricing and Restrictions screens.

  2. Watch the Channel status widget after significant changes, especially bulk edits or availability adjustments close to arrival dates.

  3. If you set channel-specific behavior, for example, a rate modification factor or a minimum length of stay on one channel only, review the channel settings for that channel. See How to configure channel settings.

  4. Use the audit log for any change you want to verify or investigate later. See Using the channel audit log.

With your rates and restrictions flowing automatically to every connected channel, you set your pricing strategy once in Mews, and it reaches all your channels consistently, without you copying it into each extranet.
