You may want to cancel the entire availability block in Mews Operations when:
- the block is empty, with no reservation or
- the block contains only canceled reservations
Employees need the Manage availability permission to cancel availability blocks. Canceled blocks can help you understand which group reservations resulted in a loss and compare them to the successful ones so that you can adjust your future revenue decisions accordingly to boost sales. You can also restore a canceled availability block if it is within the editable history window.
Note:
- Booking engine links are not visible for canceled blocks.
- You cannot make any availability adjustments after you cancel a block.
To cancel an availability block:
- In Mews Operations,
- on your Mews Dashboard, in the Occupancy section, click on
or
- go to the main menu
> Reservations > Availability block report.
- Click on the availability block you want to cancel.
- If your availability block is Confirmed, then
- Click on the
Cancel icon.
- Click on the

Alternatively, if your block is an Inquired or an Optional availability block, click on the drop-down on the right-side as below and then click on Change to canceled.

In the Reason field, select a cancellation reason from the dropdown and add any necessary details. The system displays the cancellation reason in the availability block’s Action log as well as in the exported version of the report.

Click Cancel to confirm cancellation. The block status changes to
