How to change the space category of a picked-up reservation in Mews Operations

You can change the space category of a picked-up reservation whenever you want to offer a room upgrade, or when you need to address any space-related issues promptly. To change space categories in Mews Operations, you can change the space of a reservation to one in another space category, from either

  • the Reservations management screen, or 
  • the Timeline, with a single drag and drop. 


Note: Only employees with the Overbook spaces permissions can change space categories in availability blocks.

How to change the space category of a picked-up reservation from the Timeline

To change a space category from the Timeline: 

  1. In Mews Operations:
  • click  Timeline on the Dashboard, or
  • go to the main menu  > Reservations > Timeline. 
  1. Click on the picked-up reservation you want to adjust.
  2. In the Smart detail window, ensure the reservation is unlocked image.
  3. Drag the reservation to the new space from the category you want to allocate.
    Note:
    • For picked-up reservations only, a message appears when the new space or space category is not part of the availability block.
    • You cannot downgrade reservations to a lower space category from the Timeline. In this case, you need to change the space category from the Reservations management screen.
  4. Click Save to confirm. 

Your reservation instantly updates with the new space from the selected space category. 

 

How to change the space category of a picked-up reservation from the Reservations management screen

To change the space category from the Reservation management screen of a picked-up reservation:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu  > Reservations > Availability block report. 
  2. Click on the availability block you want to adjust the space category for. 
  3. Click View. If you pick reservations in multiple individual groups, click on the reservation’s group.
  4. The Status tab of the Reservation management screen opens.  
  5. On the right side, select the reservation you want to update and ensure it is unlocked .  
  6. Under Spaces, locate the space you want to change and click on the   button. 


 

  1. A pop-up window opens. From the drop-down menu, choose a space from the new space category you want to add to the block. To change the assigned space to a lower space category, firstly, you need to change the Requested category from the Properties tab. 

Note

    • A message appears when the new space or space category is not part of the availability block.
    • You cannot change the requested category to a lower space category for reservations without assigned spaces.

  1. Click Save to confirm.

Your reservation instantly updates with the new space from the selected space category.
