How to create data visualizations in Mews Business Intelligence Pro
To create data visualizations:
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Business Intelligence > Overview.
- Open an existing dashboard or click Create dashboard.
-
Drag and drop a Visualization onto the screen to open the visualization editor.
The visualization editor opens with an empty canvas.
Step 1: Add data to the visualization
- Search for an attribute, for example, Property name, Accounting category classification.
- Drag the attribute onto the canvas to group your data.
- Search for a metric, for example, Total revenue or Occupancy.
- Drag the metric onto the canvas into the Metrics (in columns) section.
The visualization updates automatically.
For example, adding Property name and Total revenue shows revenue by property.
Step 2: Select and change the visualization type
- Click the visualization type selector in the editor.
- Choose a format, for example, Table, Column chart, Line chart, or Bar chart.
Different visualization types display data differently and may require specific data structures. For example, the Waterfall chart appears differently from the Combo chart, as below:
Note: Some options, such as stacking, require a specific chart type and a single metric.
Step 3: Apply filters to refine the data
- Drag a date or attribute into the Filter bar.
- Select the values or date range. To do so, click on the filter and select from the dropdown as below:
To filter a specific metric:
-
Open the metric settings.
- Select + Add attribute filter.
-
Select Apply to the attribute filters.
All filters apply at the same time.
For example, filter by Business segment to analyze only corporate bookings.
Step 4: Format and organize the data
You can refine how data displays in the visualization:
- Format numbers as currency, percentage, or decimals
- Sort data alphabetically, numerically, or chronologically
- Stack data by adding an attribute to the stack section
These adjustments improve readability and comparison.
Step 5: Save the visualization
- Click Save.
- Enter a clear and descriptive name.
-
Click Save.
The visualization saves to your dashboard. You can add it to other custom dashboards you build to reuse the visualization.
You can now use the visualization to analyze and present performance data in Mews Business Intelligence.
