Mews Payments supports unique payout descriptors for Stripe payouts, making it easier to identify payouts belonging to individual Mews properties—especially useful when managing multiple properties.
A payout descriptor is a short, identifying label that appears on payout transactions in your bank statements. These descriptors help your financial team track payments and reconcile payouts efficiently. Since they are configurable, they also improve integration with your accounting software and automations.
You can view and customize your Stripe payout descriptor from the Stripe merchant integration settings in Mews Operations.
Best practices to ensure clarity when customizing payout descriptors:
- If your organization has Stripe payouts from more than one Mews property entering the same bank account, the payout descriptors need to be unique to identify each property.
- Only the first 5-6 characters of the descriptor typically show on banking statements. Mews recommends placing key identifiers at the start of each descriptor to make sure identifying information is visible.
For example, if you have three Mews properties with Stripe payouts depositing into the same bank account, you could customize each property unique identifier as:
- P1_GrandMewsHotel
- P2_GrandMewsGardenHotel
- P3_GrandMewsResort'
In this case, the P# codes at the start of each descriptor identify a specific property.
