The Belgian government requires all businesses to use electronic invoicing for business-to-business (B2B) transactions starting 1 January 2026. This requirement applies to all businesses operating in Belgium that issue invoices to other businesses. If your property operates in Belgium, you must comply with this legal requirement.

What is the e-invoicing mandate in Belgium
Starting 1 January 2026, the Belgian government mandates that all B2B invoices must be electronic. This means invoices must be issued and sent through a structured digital format. Paper and PDF invoices will no longer meet compliance requirements for these transactions. The government’s goal is to reduce fraud, improve efficiency, and create real-time visibility into tax reporting.
What is Mews doing to support your compliance
To help you comply with this regulation, Mews is building a fully integrated e-invoicing solution. This solution uses the Peppol network, a secure and standardized system widely adopted in Europe for electronic document exchange.
Note: You do not need to find your own Peppol provider or develop a custom solution. Mews handles the technical complexity.
Mews has selected Invopop as our e-invoicing partner after a thorough evaluation of commercial terms, technical compatibility, and long-term scalability. Both Mews and Invopop engineering teams are already collaborating closely to meet regulatory deadlines and ensure the solution works as expected.
Here is what you can expect:
- A seamless, compliant e-invoicing process within Mews Operations
- In-system access to a certified Peppol Access Point
- No manual file generation or upload required, once you set up the integration in Mews Operations
The future solution is an integration via Mews Marketplace. When you set up and enable the integration, the system automatically transfers invoice data through Invopop for Peppol-compliant issuance. During the integration setup process, you must register your business details to access the Peppol network and complete verification. Note: Mews will update this article with instructions on how to set up the integration once the engineering teams finalize the solution.
What are the key dates for the e-invoicing mandate
- The mandate becomes effective on 1 January 2026.
- Mews is actively developing a compliant solution and aims to deliver it by early December 2025.
