How to set up network printers for Mews POS

When you connect a network printer to Mews POS, you can print orders, receipts and kitchen tickets. For printers with cash drawers, you can control the opening and closing of the cash drawer, print shift management reports and cash drawer reports. To set up a printer or a printer with a cash drawer, you must configure the IP address of the printer. When completed you can test the configuration from the Mews POS Android app. You can configure multiple printers at once.

To set up a network printer for Mews POS:

  1. Ensure the printers are connected to the local area network you use for Mews POS.
  2. Ensure your printer is set to DHCP disabled and your printers are using static IP addresses. Note: Printers are typically set to DHCP enabled by default. If you are unsure how to check or configure this setting, consult the documentation for your printers.
  3. Label each of the printers and give them a name so that they can be easily identified.
  4. To obtain the static IP address for each printer:
    1. Complete a self-test printout for each printer. This displays the IP address.
    2. Write the name and model of each printer on the self-test printout.
  5. Configure the printer preferences from the Mews POS web dashboard, using the IP address and printer name.
  6. Print a test receipt for each of the printers.

You have now set up your network printers for Mews POS.
