Multi-property operations managers use the property switcher in Mews Multi-Property to move between the portfolio-level view and an individual property's view. You do this whenever you need to review, create, edit, or delete configuration that belongs to a specific property. You can access the property switcher in the top-left corner of every Mews Multi-Property page.
What the property switcher does:
The property switcher lets you manage your entire portfolio from a single, consistent interface. You move between portfolio-level configuration and individual property views in one click, see exactly which entities are central and which are local, and create or edit local entities without ever leaving Mews Multi-Property. This means cross-property tasks that previously required jumping in and out of the property management system now happen in one place, keeping your workflow uninterrupted and your context intact.
Note
- Mews is currently rolling out this feature to cover accounting categories and business segments, with other Mews Multi-Property entities added gradually.

How to switch between portfolio and property view in Mews Multi-Property
What the property switcher shows you
The property switcher is a dropdown button in the top-left corner of every Mews Multi-Property page. It always shows your current scope. When you are looking at the full portfolio, the button reads Portfolio. When you are viewing a specific property, the button shows that property's name.
The dropdown has three sections:
-
Portfolio — returns you to the full portfolio view, marked with a checkmark when active.
-
Recent — shows the last few properties you visited, so you can return to them without searching.
-
All properties — lists every property in your portfolio, grouped by country.
How to switch to a property
-
On any Mews Multi-Property page, click the Portfolio button in the top-left corner. A dropdown opens.
-
In the dropdown, find the property you want. Check the Recent section first — if you visited the property recently, it appears there and you can click it straight away.
-
If the property is not in the Recent section, scroll through the list grouped by country.
-
Click the property name. The page updates instantly and shows only the data for that property.
Note: For large portfolios, the property list loads progressively as you scroll. This keeps the dropdown fast regardless of how many properties are in your portfolio.
How to search for a property
If you have a large portfolio and scrolling is not practical, you can search instead.
-
Click the Portfolio button in the top-left corner to open the dropdown.
-
Click into the search field at the top of the dropdown.
-
Type a property name, city, or country. The list filters in real time as you type.
-
Click the property you want.
For example, typing “Vienna” filters the list to show properties in Vienna, grouped under Austria.
What changes on screen when you switch scope
When you switch scope, the page header updates to reflect where you are. At portfolio level it reads something like Portfolio / Accounting categories. At property level it reads the property name followed by the feature, for example, Vienna Central / Accounting categories.
The data on screen also changes:
-
At portfolio level, the page shows all central configuration across your chain.
-
At property level, the page shows every accounting category or other entity that exists for that property, including both entries linked to a central entity and entries that exist only for that property (local entities).
At property level, each entry in the list displays a Source label so you can see at a glance whether an entity is local or linked to a central entity.
Note: The page URL updates when you switch properties. You can bookmark the resulting URL or share it with a colleague to take them directly to that property's view.
How to manage local entities from a property view
When you have a property selected, you can create, edit, and delete local entities directly from the Mews Multi-Property page. You do not need to go to the property management system to make these changes.
Any action you take applies only to the selected property. Changes to a local entity have no effect on central configuration or on other properties in your portfolio.
For example, on the Accounting categories page in property view, you can:
-
Click Create accounting category to add a new local accounting category for that property.
-
Click an existing accounting category to open it and edit its settings.
-
Delete an accounting category that is no longer needed at that property.
The same options are available across other Mews Multi-Property pages when you are in property view.
Note: Local entities are separate from central entities. Creating or deleting a local entity does not affect any central accounting category, business segment, or other entity linked to your portfolio.
How to switch back to portfolio view
-
Click the property name button in the top-left corner. The dropdown opens.
-
Click Portfolio at the top of the dropdown. A checkmark confirms it is selected.
-
The page updates to show your full portfolio scope.
You can now switch between portfolio and property view in Mews Multi-Property. This means you can see exactly which configuration is central and which is local, and make property-specific changes without leaving Mews Multi-Property.
