The Bluetooth Digital Key journey in the Guest Portal for iOS

The Bluetooth Digital Key is a contact-free and self-service way for your guests to access their rooms. After completing their online check-in, guests can set up the Bluetooth Digital Key app and use their smartphones to unlock their doors. The Bluetooth Digital Key journey begins at the last step of a guest’s online check-in and ends when they unlock their room using the key. Guests can contact your front desk staff at any time by tapping .  

Note:

  • Guests can share their keys with only those people that are on the reservation. For example, if there are three people on the reservation, the guest can only share up to two keys. In addition, there can only be maximum three keys that work for a room at one time.

In this article you can learn about the following steps of the Bluetooth Digital Key journey for iOS:

 

Step 1: Welcome screen 

  1. When a guest completes their online check-in, the guest portal displays the Bluetooth Digital Key screen where they can tap Get keys to start the process.

Step 2: App download 

The system redirects guests to a new screen where they need to:

  1. Tap Open to open the app clip.

  1. Tap Get the full app to get the full app.

  1. Tap Get or  to begin downloading the Mews Digital Key app.

After downloading the app, guests can open the Bluetooth Digital Key and proceed to the next steps.

 

Step 3: Allow Bluetooth 

When opening the Bluetooth Digital Key app for the first time, guests need to allow Bluetooth connection:

  1. In the app, guests tap Allow

The guest is now ready for the system to activate their key on the day of arrival.

 

Step 4: Directions

Once the system activates the guest’s key, they can view information on where to find their room. In the new screen, guests need to:

  1. Tap Find my room to find detailed information about where their room is.

Note: You can configure these directions for each individual space.

 

The guest can now access their room on the day of arrival.

 

Step 5: Room access 

Once guests arrive, they can easily find their rooms and access it by placing their smartphone over the appropriate door lock.

Step 6: Key sharing 

Guests traveling with a companion, or multiple guests can also share their Bluetooth Digital Key via their preferred applications, for example, text message, WhatsApp, email, etc. The guest needs to:

  1. Tap .    
  2. Tap a guest's name to select the guest or guests they want to share with.
