What is a VCC (virtual credit card)?
A Virtual Credit Card (VCC) is a temporary, digital credit card that can reduce fraud during online purchases. Retailers like Booking.com and Expedia use these cards to facilitate payment to the property from held funds taken from guests on their platforms during the booking process. They function like regular credit cards, so payouts are guaranteed.
Properties receive an email notification that includes an activation date for the virtual credit card: payments are not possible until after the activation date. Each virtual card has a unique card number, expiration date and CVC, which are never reused, and properties receive payments from them by charging the virtual cards within Mews.
Note: All virtual credit cards have an expiration date, if the card is not charged within the allocated time following check-out, properties may lose access to funds.
