How are virtual credit cards charged?

Virtual Credit Cards (VCC) are sent to Mews through channel manager reservations, and they can be charged as any other card: manually or automatically. How to set up payment automation in Mews Operations.

Failed Virtual credit card transactions

Virtual credit card charges can fail due to the following reasons:

  • The total price of the booking exceeds the card's limit: The chargeable amount in the virtual credit cards is the number sent by the channel manager, or less. If you add a product to the reservation (either manually or via product rules), the transaction might fail, if the total price of the booking exceeds the card's limit.

  • The channel manager did not send the activation date: if you have a payment policy to automatically charge a reservation on a specific date and time, but the channel manager does not specify the activation date, then Mews charges the card on the check in day.

Note: Mews doesn’t send automatic failure emails for failed VCC payments.
