Receive reservations using the Booking.com direct integration for Mews Operations

The Booking.com channel manager integration provides global distribution of your properties' rates and availability, direct from Mews Operations. You can set up this integration in Mews Operations and update rates, availability, and restrictions in Booking.com, to receive reservations in Mews Operations. This channel manager is a two-way connection, meaning that Mews Operations manages availability, rates, and restrictions, while Booking.com pushes reservations into Mews Operations.

Booking.com has a direct, two-way integration with Mews. It is free to use, regardless of your subscription tier. The Booking.com direct integration:

  • Pushes reservations to Mews Operations.
  • Pulls rates, restrictions, and availability from Mews and updates them in Booking.com.
  • Allows you to connect multiple Booking.com accounts to Mews. You have to just create a new Booking.com integration for each account.
  • Does not have a scheduled downtime.
  • Is twice as fast as regular channel manager connections.
  • Automatically reports invalid cards to Booking.com.
Note:
  • It may take 24 hours to activate the integration after receiving your activation request.
  • After you connect to the direct Booking.com integration, you won't be able to modify rates, availability, or restrictions in the Booking.com extranet. You need to update them straight from Mews Operations.
  • If you're already live with Mews, Mews does not configure the entire channel manager integrations for you. If you have any problems fixing the mapping errors within Mews, contact the Mews support team to help you troubleshoot.

When you migrate from a channel manager integration to a Booking.com direct integration, you can reconnect all existing Booking.com reservations to your direct integration. This processes modifications and cancellations automatically. To do so:
  1. Create a company profile for Booking.com, if you have not created one for Booking.com.
  2. Pick Booking.com from the dropdown menu, as you can see in the screenshot below. This connects all existing Booking.com reservations to the direct Booking.com integration. Note: To download all future reservations make sure to enable the connection for the first time, as explained in step 8 below.

Some things to know before you set up the Booking.com integration for Mews Operations:
  • Before you connect to the Booking.com integration, make sure to create a travel agency for Booking.com in Mews Operations.
  • If you don't, the reservations you download from Booking.com won't have a travel agency attached to them.
  • If you map channel manager age categories, do not check the Use age category in inventory box in the Options field in the integration settings.
Note: If you're already live with Mews, Mews does not configure the entire channel manager integrations for you. If you have any problems fixing the mapping errors within Mews, contact the Mews support team to help you troubleshoot.

Optional Products and Booking.com value adds

Here you can find a list of available products that Booking.com allows to create as value adds. You can reach out to their support team or your Booking.com account manager for help adding those in their extranet. Once you create those, you can continue with the steps below.

Map channel manager age categories (optional)

This step is optional. You should only complete this if you want reservations from the channel manager to include age category information.

To receive reservations with age categories through your channel manager and correctly allocate each guest with a respective age category, you need to map them in the channel manager age category mapping.

To map channel manager age categories, follow the steps in the article here.

Note:

  • Do not check the Use age category in inventory box in the Options field.
  • Age categories in the channel manager mapping affect inventory updates. Ensure you set up age categories correctly on the Booking.com side by following the steps in this article here.
    • For example, if you set pricing adjustments for children in Mews, the same adjustments apply in Booking.com when age categories are mapped correctly.

Step 7: Test the integration

To test the integration, complete step 4 in the article here.

Note:

  • Mews recommends you do not enable Granular reporting when you have mapped travel agencies. Enabling Granular reporting can create errors for billing automations product rules and commission reporting.

    Step 8: Enable the integration

    1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Main menu in Mews Operations  > Marketplace > My subscriptions.
    2. Locate the channel manager integration, then click Edit to go to the settings.
    3. Select the Enabled box.
    4. Under Enabled operations:
      • If you are an existing Mews customer: Check the Download future reservations box on initial connection only and then uncheck this. Note: If you are a new Mews customer and configuring the Booking.com integration for the first time you need to trigger the download manually under Manual actions to avoid overbookings and incorrect inventory in Booking.com.
    5. Click Save.

This completes the connection and configuration of the Booking.com channel manager integration from the Mews Marketplace.
