How to create price adjustments for different channels by using dependent rates?

Dependent rates are derived from a base rate, and you can use them to create price adjustments. Learn how to Manage the pricing details of a rate.

You can manage dependent rates either from Mews or from the channel manager extranet. Mews recommends managing dependent rates from Mews rather than in the channel manager extranet, so you can apply restrictions on each individual rate.

Manage dependent rates from Mews

To manage dependent rates from Mews, all rates should be mapped and synchronized on the channel manager integration with a unique mapping ID, so that Mews can send updates for all of them. The value of creating and uniquely mapping the derived rates in Mews is that the reservations come in with the correct rate name. Then you can check how popular each rate is directly from the Mews reports.

Manage dependent rates from the channel manager

To manage dependent rates from the channel manager, only the master rate should be synchronized, and dependent rates should be mapped and unsynchronized. This way, Mews sends updates for the base rate only.

If you manage your dependent rates from the channel manager extranet and they are also synchronized in Mews, it triggers an error and the connection with the channel manager is disabled.

If you want to control all the rates directly in the channel manager, and not in Mews, you need to disable the option called "Upload rates" in "Enabled Operations" in the channel manager integration. Otherwise, Mews sends rate updates that override the setup you have in your channel manager integration.
