Who can enable iDEAL?

Only properties in the Netherlands with a Dutch bank account can enable iDEAL via Stripe.

 

Who can pay with iDEAL?

Dutch guests with access to the internet or mobile banking with of one of the participating issuers can instantly pay with iDEAL. iDEAL payments are only available in the Netherlands.

 

Does Mews notify me if an iDEAL payment in the booking engine fails? 

Yes, if a guest does not pay for the reservation within 30 minutes from the booking attempt, the system tries to re-settle the payment.

  • If the settlement succeeds, Mews charges the reservation and does not send you a notification.
  • If the settlement fails, for example, due to incorrect account details or insufficient account balance, Mews informs your property via a task or Automatic settlement error email, based on your configuration.

 

How do I view an iDEAL transaction record in Mews?

To view an iDEAL transaction record:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu  > Profiles, or use the search bar to locate and open a guest or company profile.
  2. Click the Payments tab. 
  3. From the Overview tab, find the iDEAL transaction in the Payments table. Verify that the transaction is an iDEAL payment and that the amount and transaction date and time match the payment you are looking for.
  4. Click the name of the transaction in the Type column to view the transaction details.

 

Is it possible to refund an iDEAL transaction?

Yes, partial and full refunds are available for 180 days from the payment creation date.

 

Does iDEAL charge my property a fee for refunding a transaction?

No, iDEAL returns the full balance and charges no transaction fees for refunds.

 

Do I need to configure the Mews Booking Engine for iDEAL payments?

If want you accept iDEAL payments in your booking engine, Mews recommends to set your booking engine Payment card input configuration as either:

  • Not required for fully or partially paid bookings, or
  • Not required for fully paid bookings.

This ensures that your guests can complete their booking in your booking engine with iDEAL, and without requiring a payment card.  Note: iDEAL is only available for fully or partially paid rates. It is not available for rates which require zero payment at booking.

 

What is the transaction fee for an iDEAL transaction?

iDEAL charges a fee of €0,45 per transaction.
