Can I accept tips on Mews Terminal A2?

No, you cannot accept tips for transactions processed through Mews Operations.

Is it possible to charge orders to a room with the Mews Terminal A2?

No, you cannot charge orders to a guest room with the Mews Terminal A2.

How do receipts work on Mews Terminal A2?

Mews Terminal A2 does not print paper receipts by default. After a successful payment, you can send the receipt digitally.

Alternatively, you can print a receipt. To print a receipt from the customer profile:

  1. In Mews Operations, use the search bar to find the customer profile.
  2. Click the Payments tab.
  3. Click the payment. This displays the Transaction details screen.
  4. Click print-24 to print a receipt.

How do I access terminal menus or device information on Mews Terminal A2?

To access terminal settings:

  1. Open the Settings menu on the device.
  2. Enter the required passcode for protected functions.

You need passcodes for some menu options. You can get passcodes from your Customer Area or your administrator.

Can I install other applications on Mews Terminal A2?

No, Mews Terminal A2 is a protected device. You can only use pre-approved applications.

How does tokenization work on Mews Terminal A2?

When a guest presents a card on the terminal and you process the payment in Mews Operations, the system saves the card to the guest profile and tokenizes it.

The system marks the tokenized card in the Payments tab of the Customer profile. If a guest pays using a digital wallet, the system saves the transaction but does not tokenize the wallet for reuse.

What do PCI compliance and E2EE mean for properties?

Mews Terminals are PCI certified, they encrypt card data when the customer presents the card to the device. The terminal uses end-to-end encryption to ensure Mews and no one else sees unencrypted card data.

How do I check connectivity on Mews Terminal A2?

To check connectivity:

  1. On the Mews Terminal A2, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Network.
  3. Confirm that the terminal shows network connection and internet access.
  4. Confirm that the terminal has a valid internet protocol address assigned.

I have network issues, what do I do?

If payments are slow when connected to Wi-Fi:

  1. Move the terminal closer to the router.
  2. Reset the router.
  3. Check that the Wi-Fi signal is stable.

If the terminal does not accept contactless payments:

  1. Use the original power adapter.
  2. Select Settings > Diagnostics > Hardware to check for hardware issues.

If the issue continues, contact Support and provide:

  • Merchant account details
  • Payment service provider reference if applicable
  • Terminal serial number

How do I return the terminal?

If you wish to return you terminal, contact your Mews Customer Success Manager.
