Connecting your key encoders to Mews Operations is a great way to cut down on check-in time and simplify processes. After you set up the Messerschmitt integration, you can cut keys directly in Mews Operations without ever needing to use the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application.
Note: You need to specify whether Mews Connector should act as the Client end of the connection or the Server end. To do this:
- Go to Settings > Property > DeviceHubs.
- Select the device name.
- Under Features, select Fias server.
- Click Save.

System requirements
- To use the Messerschmitt integration, you need to install the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application and Mews Connector on the same computer at your property.
- If you have not installed Mews Connector at your property yet, you can see our help article for instructions on how to install it here.
How to set up the Messerschmitt integration
Step 1: Install and create the Messerschmitt integration
Before you can set up the Messerschmitt integration, you need to install the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application on a computer at your property. To run the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application:
- Open the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application on your computer.
- In the application, right-click and choose Settings. In your FIAS settings:
- Make sure to select Enable key card interface.
- Make note of the IP (server) and Listen port.
- Open Mews Operations.
- Go to the main menu
> Marketplace.
- In the Facility management category, under Key cutter integration click Explore.
- Click Connect integration.
- In the Name field, enter “Messerschmitt.”
- In the API URL field, enter the IP address 127.0.0.1 and the Listen port found in the Messerschmitt application in the following format:
http://127.0.0.1:Listen port. For example, if your port number is 6666, enterhttp://127.0.0.1:6666in this field. - Leave the Username and Password fields blank.
- Click Create and then click OK.
Step 2: Set up the Messerschmitt key cutters
After you create the Messerschmitt integration in Mews Operations, you can set up your key cutters.
- In the Messerschmitt integration settings, click Key cutters.
- Click the
+button. - In the Name field, enter a name for the key cutter based on where it is located or a name that your staff can easily understand.
- In the Identifier field, enter the number that corresponds to the encoder.
- This number directly correlates to the number of Messerschmitt encoders that you have at your property. For example, if you have two encoders: the Identifier is 1 for one encoder and 2 for the other.
- You cannot find this number in the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application. If your key cutting commands are not being sent to the correct encoder, you can always update the Identifier in the key cutter settings.
- In the Data JSON field, enter the following: { "Type": "FiasProtocol", "KeyVendor": "Messerschmitt", "DuplicateKeyAllowed": "True" }.
- Click Create.
Repeat steps 1- 6 for every Messerschmitt key cutter that you use at your property.
Step 3: Map the Messerschmitt key cutters in Mews Operations
If your space numbers in Mews Operations and the Messerschmitt FIAS application do not match exactly, for example, "004" and "4" is not an exact match, you must create key cutter mappings for all of your spaces.
- In the Messerschmitt integration settings, click Key cutter mappings.
- Click the
+button. - Under Room, select a space number from the drop-down list.
- In the Lock identifier field, enter the corresponding space number as listed in the Messerschmitt FIAS interface application.
- Click Create.
Repeat steps 1- 5 for every space that you need to map in Mews Operations.
Step 4: Activate your key cutters
- Go to the main menu
> Marketplace > My subscriptions.
- Locate your key cutter integration, and click Edit to go to the settings page.
- Select the Enabled checkbox.
- Click Save.
