Receive reservations using the Rentals United channel manager for Mews Operations

The Rentals United channel manager integration provides global distribution of your properties' rates and availability, direct from Mews Operations. You can set up this integration in Mews Operations and update rates, availability, and restrictions in Rentals United, to receive reservations in Mews Operations. This channel manager is a two-way connection, meaning that Mews Operations manages availability, rates, and restrictions, while Rentals United pushes reservations into Mews Operations. 


Note: 

  • If you're already live with Mews, Mews does not configure the entire channel manager integration for you. If you have any problems fixing the mapping errors within Mews Operations, contact the Mews support team to help you troubleshoot.
  • Make sure to purchase Rentals United before connecting this integration.
  • You can synchronize one rate only in the Rentals United Integration in Mews Operations.
  • The Rentals United integration does not support maximum stay of length restrictions or closed to stay restrictions.
  • Closed to stay restrictions are converted to 999 days minimum length of stay by the channel manager. Note: that not all OTAs, for example, Booking.com, Expedia, etc., accept 999 days minimum length of stay.

Step 1: Connect and configure the Rentals United integration

To connect and configure the Rentals United integration, complete steps 1 – 3 in the article here.

 

Note:You can synchronize one rate only in the Rentals United Integration in Mews Operations. This rate must have the mapping code 'RUID'.

Map companies and travel agency contracts (optional)

This step is optional. You should complete this only if you want to assign reservations received from the channel manager to a company in Mews Operations.

 

For each travel agency profile, you want to map, complete the steps in the article here.

 

Step 2: Send mapping information to Rentals United

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Mews Operations Menu Icon  > Marketplace My subscriptions.
  2. Locate the Rentals United integration and click Edit to go to the settings. 
  3. Find and copy the Channel manager code.
  4. Send this to Rentals United support: [email protected]Note: Rentals United refers to the Channel manager code as a "connection token."

Rentals United support pulls the Mews Operations mapping information to Rentals United and instructs you on how to complete the mapping in Rentals United. Once complete, continue to the next step.

 

Step 3: Test the integration

Testing the integration allows you to check whether you configured the integration correctly. You can test this with a small set of reservations for the next 7 days.

Note: Make sure to update availability in Mews with all future reservations matching Rentals United before performing the push. If reservations are not updated in Rentals United it does not guarantee 100% accuracy in terms of availability. 
 

Rentals United FAQs

Availability updates

Rentals United connection does not accept availability updates when the number of spaces is higher than configured in Rentals United. This happens in the following scenarios:

1. Deliberate overbookings
If you have 10 spaces within Double room space category and decide to adjust availability to 11 spaces using Mews Availability screen, the update fails. Rentals United does not support deliberate overbooking.

2. New space added to a mapped space category
If you add a new space to the existing space category, the total number of spaces needs to be adjusted in Rentals United as well. Please reach out to Rentals United Support Team via [email protected] to adjust the total number of spaces within a space category.

 

Rate price updates

It is impossible to send 0 prices as a part of rate update to Rentals United, this causes an error and Rentals United does not process it.

 

Currency conversion

It is possible to convert rate prices into other currency in Rentals United extranet. For example, If Mews sends a price update in EUR and a property is created in USD in the Rentals United extranet, all EUR amounts are automatically converted into USD amounts.

 

Descriptive data

The Rentals United integration synchronizes descriptive data from Mews to Rentals United and then distributes it to channels.

This includes property name, description, images, website, email, telephone, full address, space categories, cancellations policies and mapping relation between the mapped rate and space categories.

 

Images and description requirements

Rentals United requires the properties to have descriptions for all space categories, as well as a minimum of 10 images uploaded. When you upload these in Mews, Rentals United pulls the information and distributes it to connected channels.

Note: The first image you add to a space category description is set as the main image in Rentals United.

 

Cancellation policy

Rentals United can only pull a cancellation policy with relative penalty.
