You can use restrictions in Mews to prevent guests from making bookings or reservations that meet certain conditions – giving you more control over your reservations. You can only apply restrictions to stays, not products. You can learn more about restrictions here.
You can set up different kinds of restrictions in Mews, such as:
A closed restriction prevents guests from making a reservation at your property(s) during certain time periods, for example, if you are a seasonal property and want to close your property during the winter months.
You can apply the restriction to:
- Rates, i.e., (all rates or specific rates)
- Rate groups
- Space categories
- Space types
You can create and delete your restrictions in Mews operations either individually, or in bulk, and can edit them at any time. You can learn more about managing restrictions here.
Create a closed-to-arrival restriction
A closed-to-arrival, or CTA restriction prevents guests from making a reservation with an arrival time during the restricted period.
Note: Guests can make a reservation on nights that fall within the restricted period, as long as the reservation arrives before the restriction starts.
To create a closed-to-arrival restriction:
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Settings > Services.
- Click on your bookable service.
- From the Settings menu, click Restrictions.
- Click
Restriction.
- Restriction type*: Select Closed to arrival.
- Active until start of and ‘Active until end of’: Enter start and end dates for your restriction. The restriction applies to both the start and end date, as well as all dates in between. Note: If you want to create a restriction for one day, you need to enter the same date for the start and end.
- On days*: Select the days you want the restriction to apply on.
- Rates and Spaces: Choose the type of rate or space restrictions you want to apply. Refer to the reference article for an in-depth explanation of fields on this screen.
Note:
- If you do not select an option, the restriction applies to all. For example, if you don't select a rate, the restriction applies to all your rates.
- You can make multiple selections within each space category. To do so, click the dropdown to select those you want to restrict.
- Exceptions: Choose how you want to apply any exceptions to your restrictions, and type in the corresponding fields to enter any exceptions to your restrictions.
- Click Continue.
