You can create spaces without assigning them categories to represent and track resources your property rents out with no need for external tools or spreadsheets. These spaces appear in the Space Status Report, and you can manage their use at the bottom of the Timeline.

Note: You cannot book spaces without categories. Instead, you need to create a house use on the Timeline and handle any billing separately.

In this article, you can learn about:

Creating a space without a category

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu Screenshot_2.png > Settings > Property.
  2. On the left, go to Space configuration > Spaces.
  3. Click the + button.
  4. Enter the space details.
    1. Name the space using the Number field. You are not restricted to numbers.
    2. In the Floor field, enter a floor number. For the ground floor, you can use 0.
    3. Leave the Category field empty.
  5. Click Create.

When you create a space without a category, it appears in the Space Status Report. You can still update the status of the space, for example, to clean, or inspected.

Creating house uses on the Timeline

Mews groups all of your spaces without categories at the bottom of the Timeline. Once you create a house use, this appears in the Timeline, showing that the resource space is blocked off for a specific use and period of time.

To create a house use on the Timeline:

  1. Click the image.png Timeline icon on the Dashboard or go to Main menu > Reservations > Timeline.

  2. Click the  House use button.

  3. Enter a Block name to describe the specific use of the resource,
  4. From the Assigned space dropdown, choose the correct space, without a category.

  5. Select the Start and End times for the use of the resource.

  6. Optionally, you can add Notes that other staff members can read.

  7. Click Create.

You can learn more about the Timeline here.
