Using the Event timeline in Mews Events to manage bookings and availability

The Event timeline in Mews Events provides a graphical overview of managing space availability with booking status, to manage group assignments and event configurations. You can use it to adjust space distribution for individual bookings, events, or groups based on guest requirements.

To access the Event timeline, in Mews Events, go to the main menu  > Event timeline.

Viewing space availability and bookings

You can monitor space availability and existing bookings using the calendar view: 

• Day view: View daily bookings and availability.
• Week view: Get a broader weekly view of upcoming reservations.
• Month view: Plan long-term space distribution efficiently.

 

Viewing booking status using color reference

The Event timeline uses color-coded booking statuses to visually indicate the stage of each booking in the reservation process. From pending signature to confirmed and blocked bookings, each status provides a quick visual reference for managing event reservations efficiently:

Color	Booking status	Description
●	Reservation pending signature (multi-option)	Reservation requires guest approval on multiple options, for example, different quotes for the same space and time.
●	Firm booking option	Space exclusively held for this reservation, regardless of the quote’s approval status.   Note: You can set up this status in Settings > Quote template > Payment or directly within the quote. You can learn more about editing a quote in Mews Events here.
●	Booking pending payment	The customer signed the corresponding quote, but the deposit payment is still pending.
●	Booking confirmed	A fully confirmed reservation, with guest acceptance and deposit payment complete.
●	Blocked booking	A manually blocked space, not linked to a quote, typically for internal use such as maintenance or non-availability. The system applies this status to spaces you book directly from the Event timeline.
