Mews Analytics is a Microsoft Power BI, i.e., Business Intelligence, tool embedded into the Mews Property Management System and located in Mews Operations. It consists of a series of dashboards that consolidate data from your properties(s) for a chain-level overview. You can refine your results to get insights on a specific property within your chain.

Mews uses Power BI to build and display the dashboards but manages and stores your data within the Mews platform. It is not a third-party solution. You can learn more about Power BI here.

Data refreshes in Mews Analytics every 12 hours. The data you see is usually between 8 - 12 hours old. You can find updated datasets every day at 9:00 UTC and at 21:00 UTC.

Note: The exact time might vary based on the amount of data in the update. 

To access Mews Analytics, you need: 

  • an Enterprise subscription to Mews, OR  
  • to purchase Mews Analytics as an add-on, AND 
  • to be either an Admin in your Mews account or have the Access sensitive reports permission.

Note:

  • For Enterprise clients, you need to enable the integration in each property in your chain before use.  
  • When purchasing Mews Analytics, you gain access to the whole suite. It is not possible to purchase an individual dashboard.


Mews Analytics lets you:  

  • Gain instant insights into the performance of all your property(s).  
  • Access interactive dashboards to easily visualize your data, without consolidating or exporting it. 
  • Display your budgets, alongside your latest numbers. 
  • Upload target metrics for the current and upcoming year, helping you budget or forecast for the future. 
  • Upload and import your property management system data and continue using it for analysis. Note: You can import for up 3 years previously. 
  • Manage invoices and finances with the Aging balance, to keep track of open bills. 
  • Analyze on a multi-property level.
  • Export certain data to Excel and print your dashboard view in PDF format.
Note: It's only possible to export summarized data when exporting from Mews Analytics.

Manager analytics 

Manager analytics is the home of your revenue, occupancy, average daily rate, i.e., ADR, and revenue per available room, i.e., RevPAR. You can get insights into key statistics at-a-glance. 

You can use Manager analytics to:  

  • Assess your key performance indicators across revenue, occupancy, revenue per available room, and average daily rate. 
  • Compare your current year's data with the previous 2 years, against your budget. 
  • View data on all properties within your chain or group for which you are an Admin or have permission to view sensitive data. 
  • Gather marketing insights about your guest demographics. 
  • Check booking information such as lead time and booking window.

Aging balance 

The Aging balance dashboard gives an overview of all open invoices in your properties and categorizes them by age. The aging of accounts receivable is the process of listing your unpaid invoices and additional receivables by their due dates. This process is for tracking overdue payments on invoices. 

You can use Aging balance to:  

  • Identify and track unpaid and overdue invoices by their due date. 
  • Monitor late payments and recognize probable causes of bad debt. 
  • Check the Aging balance status at any point in the past or future. 
  • Export selected debt age and open invoices’ data for your financial records. 
  • Compare company credit limits.

Financial analytics 

Financial analytics contains all the information you need about your revenue, payments, and accounting. Note: You can now find the Open invoices tab in the Aging balance. 

You can use Financial analytics to:  

  • Analyze open bills and credit card transactions. 
  • Resolve aging invoices. 
  • Get more in-depth accounting reports.

Deposit ledger

The deposit ledger gives you an overview of all your guests’ deposits and payments, received prior to the start of a guest’s reservation.

You can use the Deposit ledger to:  

  • Keep track of guests' deposits and manage their financial records during their stay. 
  • Reconcile guests’ deposits against any charges or potential damages. 
  • Identify any discrepancies or errors in deposit amounts or dates. 
  • Generate reports from up to 3 months of historical data, helping you analyze deposit trends and evaluate your enterprise’s cash flow.

Guest ledger 

You can use the Guest ledger to check the guests or companies occupying rooms at your property that are in-house, and not yet checked out. It also gives you an overview of their running balance, i.e., the difference between the total amount of money received from and owed by guests or companies staying at your properties.

You can use the Guest ledger to:  

  • Check amounts of open prepayments and open invoices, per guest or company. 
  • Gain an overview of the amount your guests spend during their stay, and on the products or services that they spend on. 
  • Check your guest’s balance.  
  • Detect guests with open accounts from past reservations.

Trial balance 

The Trial balance provides you with an overview of unsettled balances in your property(s), grouped by accounting category.

You can use the Trial balance to:

  •  Identify errors in your accounting records, and
  • Monitor and analyze the financial health of your business, so that you can draw insights and make adjustments.

Outlet analytics 

Outlet analytics keeps you up to date with the performance of your outlets. 

You can use Outlet analytics to:  

  • Get insights into reported revenue and payments from outlets. 
  • See how your various outlets perform over time. 
  • Gain additional understanding of your outlets' accounting.

Pickup analytics 

Pickup analytics shows the difference between the date of reservation creation and the date of its consumption, split across multiple tabs, by time period. 

You can use Pickup analytics to:  

  • View revenue and bookings per creation date and booking curve.  
  • Learn about your pace/ pickups in more detail. 
  • Gain insights into your future revenue.  
  • Use the data to effectively plan staff shifts. 
  • Understand your business sources.
