Understanding Mews Business Intelligence

Mews Business Intelligence is the built-in analytics workspace in Mews that shows your up-to-date property performance across key metrics such as revenue, occupancy, and bookings. You access Mews Business Intelligence from Mews Operations or Mews Multi-Property and use curated dashboards to view a clear, visual overview of performance across a single property or your entire portfolio.

 

All customers have access to Mews Business Intelligence, which includes a set of pre-built dashboards designed to help you monitor performance without setup. For more advanced reporting, Business Intelligence Pro provides full customization capabilities, including custom dashboards, visualizations, and metrics. Business Intelligence Pro is included in the Enterprise, Portfolio, and Brand subscription tiers or available as an add-on in the Mews Marketplace.

 

Hotel managers, revenue managers, finance teams, and operations staff can use Mews Business Intelligence to monitor results, compare performance over time, and identify trends that influence business decisions. Data updates every two hours, which supports daily operational checks, weekly reviews, and long-term performance analysis. The AI Executive Summary provides a quick overview of your data combined.

 

You work in Mews Business Intelligence by reviewing dashboards, applying filters such as date, property, and segment, and drilling into charts and tables for deeper insights. If you use Business Intelligence Pro, you can also build and customize dashboards to match your business needs.

Mews Business Intelligence includes a suite of curated, prebuilt dashboards designed to help you analyze hotel performance. Each dashboard focuses on a different aspect of your business, including:

 

  • Daily Summary: Get an overview of daily performance, including check-ins, check-outs, and revenue.
  • Pickup: Track new bookings and cancellations to anticipate changes in demand.
  • Occupancy: Monitor space utilization, demand, and guest volumes over time.
  • Revenue: Analyze total revenue across different sources, including rooms and other hotel services.
  • RevPAR: Tracks Revenue per Available Room performance, market penetration, and profitability to assess overall room revenue performance and competitive positioning.
  • Reservations: Dive deeper into booking trends, lead times, and customer behaviors.
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR): Track revenue per occupied room and monitor pricing trends.
  • Card payments: Monitors credit card transactions, processing fees, payment method distribution, and settlement status to control payment costs and reconcile payments.
  • Payments: Shows all payment transactions, payment method mix, collection rates, and outstanding balances to monitor cash flow and accounts receivable.
  • Bills and invoices: Analyzes guest billing and folio activity, invoice status, payment collection, and accounts receivable aging to support financial operations and credit management.
  • Multi-Property Overview: Analyze key metrics across multiple properties in your portfolio.
  • Blocked rooms tracker: Shows room-level details of blocked rooms, including status and duration, to help you monitor operational impact and reduce lost inventory.
  • Blocked rooms overview: Analyzes total blocked inventory across properties, block types, and trends over time to support availability management and operational planning.
  • Guest demographics: Analyzes guest origin, nationality, and profile characteristics to help you understand customer segments and inform marketing and revenue strategies.

 

Each dashboard includes charts, graphs, and tables that display important metrics in an easy-to-read format. Mews Business Intelligence dashboards update every two hours, ensuring you always work with near-real-time data. The timestamp at the top of the dashboard shows the last update time.

 

You can also create custom dashboards to suit your specific needs. Note: This custom functionality is available for Mews Business Intelligence Pro users only. You can learn more in the help article Creating custom dashboards in Mews Business Intelligence.

 

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu main menu > Business Intelligence.

  1. On the Business Intelligence home screen, scroll down to browse the list of curated and custom dashboards. The AI Executive Summary provides a quick overview of all your combined data.

Each dashboard is made up of individual data visualizations that help you analyze trends and performance, for example, bar charts, pie charts, tables, graphs, and summary statistics:

You can use the following to analyse and interpret your business's data:

 

1. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

At the top of each dashboard, you see summary statistics such as:

  • Total revenue for the selected period.
  • ADR
  • Number of check-ins and check-outs.
  • Average occupancy rates.

 

2. Data filters

You can filter dashboards to refine the data based on multiple factors, for example:

  • Date range, for example, today, last week, last month.
  • Space type
  • Room categories, nationality, or booking source.

3. Data visualizations

Dashboards use charts, graphs, and tables to display performance data:

  • Bar charts compare revenue or occupancy trends.
  • Line graphs show changes over time.

4. Drill-down options

Some dashboards allow you to drill down into specific metrics for a more detailed view.

  • Click more actions icon  > More actions on a data visualization.
  • Select drill down to analyze the underlying data.
