Mews Analytics is a Microsoft Business Intelligence, or Power BI tool, embedded in the Mews Property Management System, that consolidates data from your property(s) for a chain-level overview or an in-depth analysis of your single property. You can refine your results using the filters, to go into more detail, or gain insights on multiple aspects of your business, analyze trends, focus on specific datasets, and more. You can also export certain datasets to Excel, and print your dashboard view in PDF format, per tab and type of Analytics.
You can learn more about the different types and capabilities of Mews Analytics here.
To access Mews Analytics, you need:
- an Enterprise subscription to Mews OR
- to purchase Mews Analytics as an add-on, AND
- to be either an Admin in your Mews account or have the Access sensitive reports permission.
Note:
- Enterprise clients need to enable the integration in each property in their chain before use.
- When purchasing Mews Analytics, you gain access to the whole suite. It is not possible to purchase an individual dashboard.
In this article you can learn the following about Mews Analytics:
Data sources and parameters
Mews Analytics consists of multiple dashboards that consolidate data from your property(s). You can refine the results to get insights on a specific property within your chain.
The system loads data every 12 hours. The data is usually between 8 - 12 hours old. Updated datasets are available every day at 9:00 UTC and at 21:00 UTC. Note: The exact time varies based on the amount of data in the update.
Data parameters:
You can view the data parameters for the report at the bottom of each Analytics page. You can view an explanation of these data parameters in the table below:

Types of Analytics
Each analytics type in Mews Analytics has different functions and capabilities. You can find a brief overview below. Click on the links for more information about individual types:
- Manager analytics: View and analyze your revenue, occupancy, average daily rate (ADR), and revenue per available room (RevPAR) across your property(s).
- Aging balance: Gain an overview of all open invoices in your property(s), categorized by age, i.e., the time interval since the invoice issue date.
- Financial analytics: View information regarding your revenue, payments, and accounting.
- Deposit ledger: Get an overview of all your guests’ deposits and payments, received prior to the start of a guest’s reservation.
- Guest ledger: Check the guests or companies occupying rooms at your property that are in-house, and not yet checked out. View your guests’ running balance, i.e., the difference between the total amount of money received from and owed by guests or companies staying at your properties.
- Trial balance: Get an overview of unsettled balances in your property(s), grouped by accounting category, and the closing balance of all accounts opened with your business.
- Outlet analytics : Gain an overview of the performance of your outlets.
- Pickup analytics: At-a-glance overview of your revenue, average daily rate (ADR), bookings, and nights. Visualize the difference between the date of reservation creation and the date of its consumption, per time period, and split across multiple tabs.
Data analysis
You can do a detailed analysis of your property(s) data using the various Power BI filters in Mews Analytics. They let you reorganize, filter, and visualize your data in different ways, so you can extract specific information, recognize trends, and gain insights on your business.
Using filters
Mews Analytics dashboards use Power BI filters to refine your data sets, to reorganize, and display data that is relevant to you. In Mews Analytics, you have various options to filter your data, where some filters are unique to certain Analytics types.
You can use the Power BI filters to:
- Analyze and reorganize your selected datasets, by going into more detail or “drilling down”. You can learn more about the drill-down feature in Power BI here and the Power BI filters in general here.
- Filter to analyze or show specific time periods, by focusing on or excluding certain data from your visualizations.
You can learn in detail about analyzing data using filters in Mews Analytics here and setting filters as default here.
Data export
You can export certain data from all visuals in Mews Analytics. This means you can easily save your data offline, or share your analytics data with other parties, for example, accountants or auditors.
You can export:
- Your full screen or dashboard view, per tab, in PDF format by clicking
Print.
- Summarized data from Mews Analytics. Note: You cannot export underlying data.
- Individual datasets from Analytics, not an entire sheet.
There is a row limit on your exported data. Therefore, the maximum rows that you can export to .csv is 30,000 and to .xlsx is 150,00. Note: the maximum number of rows could be lower depending on query limits and visual types.
To export a dataset from Mews Analytics:
- Click on the dataset you want to export. Click
More options > Export data.
- Choose the File format of your choice in the window that appears. Click Export.
