Customize your kiosk and online check-in with the Check in form

You can customize the Check in form in Mews Operations to personalize the information that you ask guests to fill in during both online and Mews Kiosk check-ins. Mews then uses this information to complete their customer profiles. The form is set to your country’s legal requirements by default. Once you customize the fields in this form, based on your choices, they either appear or do not appear in the kiosk and online check-in generated registration cards. For example, you can choose to “hide” the Date of birth field, so that it does not appear during check in or on the printed cards.

Customizing the Check in form

You can customize the check in form according to guest type and decide which information you require from each one. Note: Make sure to comply with local data collection regulations at all times.

To customize the Check in form:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu  > Settings > Property > Guest experience > Check in form
  2. Click on individual tabs to customize each section, for example, General, Address, Documents or Verification.
  3. At the top of the form, Mews displays the following guest types available for customization:
    • Reservation owner: The person that makes the reservation. Note: Mews always collects information for this guest type.
    • Other adults: Check the box to enable collection of information for this guest type.
    • Children: Check the box to enable collection of information for this guest type.
  1. Under each guest type, click the dropdown to select the visibility status as per your requirements:
    • Default: Automatically requests Mews’s configured fields for your location.
    • Required: Makes it mandatory for the customer to fill in the information.
    • Optional: Marks a field as optional.
    • Hidden: Removes this field from the Check in form. For example, if you select Hidden for the Date of birth field, it does not appear during check in or on the printed cards. Note: For Online check-in through the Guest portal, hiding the “Relation to reservation owner” field only affects reservation owners as companions never see this question. For Kiosk check ins, you cannot hide this field as companions who check in first are still asked this question.
  2. Once you choose the visibility status for all fields in the individual tabs, click Save

The Check in form consists of three sections, General, Address, Documents and Verification. To customize the fields in each section, click on the appropriate tab and modify the visibility status for each field as per your requirement.
