You can set up your Mews Kiosk to play a customized screen saver video after 10 minutes of inactivity on your device. You can add a video featuring your brand, property, or location for a more personalized touch. For best results, use a high quality video, for example, 4K UHD.
Note: Older devices may not perform as well with 4K UHD videos. In this case, we suggest lowering the resolution to 1920 x 1080 or Full HD.
In this article you can learn about how to add a screen saver video to the kiosk:
When creating the screen saver video, Mews recommends an MP4 format for best results. Other video formats are not supported.
Host the video
You need to host your video online before you can link it in the kiosk. You can host the video on a public file-sharing service or on your own website. In both cases, the video URL needs to be a direct and publicly accessible link.
Note:
- Video-sharing websites, such as Youtube, cannot be used in the kiosk as the URLs do not link directly to the video file.
- If you are using Dropbox, you need to edit the URL suffix from ‘dl=0’ to ‘dl=1’ before the video can appear in your kiosk.
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Settings > Services.
- Bookable services section, click on the bookable service you want to add the video to, for example, Stay.
- On the left-hand side menu, click Kiosks.
- Click on the name of the kiosk that you want to add the video to. Note: To set up a kiosk click on the + button and follow the instructions in this help article to set up the new kiosk.
- Scroll down to the Screen saver video URL field. Enter the URL of the screensaver video for your device to play after 10 minutes of inactivity. Note: This address needs to be a direct link to an MP4 file, such as: https://example.com/video.mp4 You cannot provide a link to a video-sharing website such as YouTube.
- Click Save.
If your device is new and not yet set up, complete the device set up as per the instructions on the device. Once you complete the set up, follow the steps in this article to install the kiosk.
