When setting up your Mews Kiosk, you can add a customized video that shows guests how to create their keys. The video URL needs to be a direct and publicly accessible link. You cannot provide a link to a video-sharing website such as YouTube. You can also add a customized screen saver video to your Mews Kiosk to enhance your guest check in experience.
In this article you can learn about how to add a key cutting video to the kiosk:
Use a Mews video
If you use either if the Hotek, Kaba Saflok, Messerschmitt, or Salto key cutter integrations you can use a video from Mews.
To use one of the sample videos that Mews has available, simply paste one of the following URLs into your Kiosk configuration page, under the Cut key video URL field from the following list:
You can also choose to create your own video as this shows the actual, physical setup of your Mews Kiosk and the key encoder.
Create and host the video
Create the video
When creating the key cutting video, Mews recommends an MP4 format for best results. Other video formats are not supported.
Host the video
You need to host your video online before you can link it in the kiosk. You can host the video on a public file-sharing service or your own website. In both cases, the video URL must have a direct and publicly accessible link.
Once you host the video, you can add a link to it when you configure your Mews Kiosk, in the Cut key video URL field.
Note:
- Video-sharing websites, such as YouTube, cannot be used in the Kiosk as the URLs do not link directly to the video file.
- If you are using Dropbox, you need to edit the URL suffix from ‘dl=0’ to ‘dl=1’ before the video can appear in your Kiosk.
