Mews sends emails to guests on your behalf with relevant information regarding their reservations and payments. In Mews, you can build a new template for an existing email from scratch and customize it according to your property’s branding. Once you add a row to your mail template, you can add content to it. You can then customize your content according to type including, titles, paragraphs, lists images, buttons and tables. You can delete any customized templates you edit if required or use the default Mews template.
Note: Mews does not recommend using HTML blocks for written content, as you cannot translate HTML blcoks.
To add a content block to rows in mail templates:
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Settings > Property > Guest experience > Mail templates.
- In the template editor, click the Content tab.
- Drag and drop a content block to insert it in the template. You can add the following content blocks:
- Title: To add a title or header.
- Paragraph: To add a text paragraph block. Note: You use this for most text content.
- List: To add a bullet point list.
- Image: To add an image by URL. Note: You can also add a link to a new page when the guest clicks the image by adding a URL under Action > Image link.
- Button: To add a clickable button.
- Table: To add a table.
- Divider: To add a line between content sections.
- Spacer: To add space between content sections.
- Social: To add links to social media accounts.
- HTML: To add HTML code. Note: This is optional and requires knowledge of HTML and its use. For advanced users only. Mews does not recommend using HTML blocks for written content, as you cannot translate HTML blocks.
- Icons: To add symbols, images or icons, for example, your property’s logo. Note: You can also add a link to direct the guest to an external page when they click the icon.
- Click a content block to enter information into the mail template. Additional options for that content block appear in the template editor right-hand window.
- Each content block type has different formatting options which are as follows:

For Title, Paragraph and List content blocks:
- Title: Click the dropdown to select the heading level.
- Font family: Click the dropdown to select the font style from your global settings.
- Font weight: Click the dropdown to select how thick the font appears.
- Font size: Click + or - to Increase or decrease the size of your title text
- Text color: Click to set the title color using a hexadecimal code.
- Link color: Click to set the color for any links inside your title.
- Align: Click to choose how the title aligns in the content block.
- Line height: Click the dropdown to select the amount of space between lines of text.
- Letter spacing: Click + or - to adjust the space between each letter.
- Text direction: Click > or < to select left-to-right or right-to-left text flow based on your language needs.
- Padding: Click + or - to add spacing around the title block.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable adjustment of padding for each side individually.
- Hide on: Choose to hide the block on desktop, tablet, or mobile views. Note: The default setting is OFF, so the block is visible on all devices.

For Image content blocks:
- Auto width: Click the slider switch to enable automatic image width scaling.
- Full width on mobile: Check the box to stretch the image across the full width of mobile devices.
- Align: Click to choose how the image aligns in the content block.
- Dynamic image: Click the slider switch to enable dynamic image functionality. This allows Mews to replace this image with a specific image from the PMS, such as your property logo or Sign in image, and insert it into your template.
- URL: Enter the full image link to display an image hosted on an external source. Note: Mews can only display images that are hosted on an external source with public access.
- Alt text: Type a short image description to support accessibility tools such as screen readers. Note: Adding alt text improves accessibility and helps guests using assistive technology understand what the image represents.
- Image rounded corners: Click the slider switch to enable rounded corners for the image.
- All corners: Click + or - to increase or decrease the roundness of all four corners equally. Note: Click More options to adjust each corner individually.
- Image link: Click the dropdown to select what happens when a guest clicks the image. For example, open a web page or link to a file.
- URL: Enter a web address or file path to create a clickable image.
- Link file: Click Link to upload or select a file that opens when the guest clicks the image.
- Special links: Click Special Links to choose predefined options from Mews, for example, Chat URL, Directions to hotel or Manage reservation URL.
- Padding: Click + or - to add spacing around the block.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable adjustment of padding for each side individually.
- Hide on: Choose to hide the block on desktop, tablet, or mobile views. Note: The default setting is OFF, so the block is visible on all devices.

For Button content blocks:
- Link type: Click the dropdown to select the link destination, for example, open a web page, file, or email address.
- URL: Enter a link destination URL or use a special link.
- Link file: Click Link to upload or select a file that opens when the guest clicks the button.
- Special Links: Click Special Links to choose predefined internal links, for example, Chat URL, Directions to hotel or Manage reservation URL.
- Auto width: Click the slider switch to enable automatic width adjustment for the button.
- Width: Drag the slider to adjust the width of the button manually.
- Font family: Click the dropdown to select the font style from your global settings.
- Font weight: Click the dropdown to select how thick the font appears.
- Font size: Click + or - to increase or decrease the text size.
- Background color: Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the button’s background.
- Text color: Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the button’s text color.
- Align: Click an alignment icon to set the button position in the content block.
- Line height: Click the dropdown to select the spacing between lines of button text.
- Letter spacing: Click + or - to increase or decrease the space between letters.
- Text direction: Click the icon to choose left-to-right or right-to-left text flow.
- Border radius: Click + or - to increase or decrease the roundness of the button corners.
- Content padding: Click + or - to increase or decrease spacing inside the button on each side.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable individual padding controls for top, right, bottom, and left.
- Border: Click the slider switch to enable borders.
- Click the dropdown to select a border style for all sides.
- Click + or - to increase or decrease the border thickness.
- Click the color box to set a border color.
- Padding: Click + or - to add spacing around the block.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable adjustment of padding for each side individually.
- Hide on: Choose to hide the block on desktop, tablet, or mobile views. Note: The default setting is OFF, so the block is visible on all devices.

For Table content blocks:
- Columns: Click + or - to increase or decrease the number of columns.
- Rows: Click + or - to increase or decrease the number of rows.
- Border: Click the slider switch to enable borders.
- Click the dropdown to select a border style for all cells.
- Click + or - to increase or decrease the border thickness.
- Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the border color.
- Background color: Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the table background. The default is transparent.
- Striped rows: Click the slider switch to enable alternating row backgrounds.
- Header row: Click the slider switch to enable the top row as a header.
- Background color: Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the header background.
- Font weight: Click the dropdown to select how thick the header text appears.
- Font size: Click + or - to increase or decrease the header text size.
- Text color: Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the header text.
- Align: Click an alignment icon to set the header text position.
- Font family: Click the dropdown to select the font style from your global settings.
- Font weight: Click the dropdown to select how thick the table text appears.
- Font size: Click + or - to increase or decrease the text size in table cells.
- Text color: Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the text color.
- Link color: Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for any link color in the table.
- Align: Click an alignment icon to set the content alignment in the cells.
- Line height: Click the dropdown to select the spacing between lines of text in table cells.
- Letter spacing: Click + or - to increase or decrease the spacing between characters.
- Text direction: Click the icon to choose left-to-right or right-to-left text flow.
- Padding: Click + or - to increase or decrease spacing around the table block.

For Divider content blocks:
- Transparent: Click the slider switch to enable a transparent divider line.
- Line:
- Click the dropdown to select a line style.
- Click + or - to increase or decrease the line thickness.
- Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the line color.
- Width: Click + or - to increase or decrease the divider width.
- Align: Click an alignment icon to set the divider's horizontal position in the content block.
- Padding: Click + or - to add spacing around the divider block on all sides.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable adjustment of padding for each side individually.
- Hide on: Choose to hide the block on desktop, tablet, or mobile views. Note: The default setting is OFF, so the block is visible on all devices.

For Spacer content blocks:
- Height: Click + or - to increase or decrease the vertical space between content blocks.
- Hide on: Choose to hide the block on desktop, tablet, or mobile views. Note: The default setting is OFF, so the block is visible on all devices.

For Social content blocks:
- Select icon collection: Click the dropdown to select a pre-designed group of social media icons then add a link to your specific social media account.
- Configure icon collection: Each social platform appears with a default icon and editable link field.
- URL: Enter the full web address for each social media profile.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable title and alt text settings for the selected icon.
- Delete: Click Delete to remove the account.
- Add new icon: Click the Add new icon button to include a new platform in the social icon list.
- Align: Click an alignment icon to set how the group of icons appears in the content block.
- Icon spacing: Click the dropdown to select how much space appears between each icon.
- Padding: Click + or - to increase or decrease spacing around the table block.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable adjustment of padding for each side individually.
- Hide on: Choose to hide the table on desktop, tablet, or mobile views. Note: The default setting is OFF, so the table is visible on all devices.

For HTML content blocks:
- Note: This block is for advanced users only. Use valid and responsive HTML to avoid layout or rendering issues across devices. Mews does not recommend using HTML blocks for written content, as you cannot translate HTML blocks.
- HTML editor: Enter your custom HTML code directly into the editor field.
- Expand: Click EXPAND to open a larger view of the code editor for easier editing.

For Icon content blocks:
- Add new icon: Click to create a custom icon link in your email or message layout.
- Font family: Click the dropdown to select the font style from your global settings.
- Font weight: Click the dropdown to select how thick the label text appears.
- Font size: Click + or - to increase or decrease the text size.
- Text color: Click the color box to select or enter a hex code for the icon label text.
- Align: Click an alignment icon to set how the icons and text align in the content block.
- Letter spacing: Click + or - to increase or decrease the spacing between characters.
- Icon appearance settings:
- Icon size: Click the dropdown to select the size of the icon in pixels.
- Icon spacing: Click the dropdown to set the amount of space between each icon.
- Icon padding: Click + or - to increase or decrease the padding around each icon.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable individual padding adjustments for each side.
- Padding: Click + or - to add spacing around the entire block.
- More options: Click the slider switch to enable padding controls for each side of the block separately.
- Hide on: Choose to hide the table on desktop, tablet, or mobile views. Note: The default setting is OFF, so the table is visible on all devices.

- Click Preview to preview the email.
- Click Save and exit to save or click Reset to remove all customizations and revert back to the default Mews templates.
