In Mews, you can set service level overbookings for specific dates to accept more reservations while maintaining control over occupancy. Configuring overbookings helps you better manage your inventory and maintain control over your occupancy strategy. Mews sends the overbooking adjustments to channel managers in addition to the total service availability as a total booking limit to ensure accurate inventory on external platforms and minimize excessive overbooking.
To configure service level overbookings:
- In Mews Operations, go to the Dashboard and click Availability & occupancy report.
- Click the Availability tab, then click Adjust availability.
- In the new side-window, enter the following details:
- Service: Click to select the Service where you want to set up overbooking.
- Start: Click to select a start date for the overbooking.
- End: Click to select an end date for the overbooking.
- Adjustment: Click + to increase or – to decrease the availability of specific space categories. For example, you can increase the Standard rooms by 10 and the Deluxe rooms by 5.
- Limit overbooking: Click the slider switch to enable overbooking limits. Note: Your limit must be above 1 and below the total number of space level adjustments.
- Stay: Click + to enter the maximum number of overbookings you want to allow for the service as whole. This acts as a cap for your adjustments and ensures total overbookings never exceed this limit, regardless of individual category settings.
- Click Adjust availability.
This configures a service level overbooking for multiple days. You can view the adjustments in the Availability & occupancy report. Note: The service level overbooking progress bar updates as guests make reservations.
