With Tap to Pay on Android configured, your wait staff can take contactless payments on a compatible android device, giving freedom to your staff to quickly and easily take payments.
You can use Tap to Pay on Android with Visa, Mastercard, and American Express contactless cards and NFC-based mobile wallets including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, to accept payments below the cardholder verification limit.
Note:
- The cardholder verification limit varies dependent on the country. If a payment exceeds this limit, you can take it using a Mews Terminal. You can learn more about the cardholder verification limit here.
- If a payment processed using Tap to Pay on Android requires a PIN, Mews POS cancels the transaction, and you need to take the payment using a Mews Terminal.
Taking payments using Tap to Pay on Android.
Once you configure Tap to Pay on Android, to take a payment,
- From the order screen, tap
to select a payment method.
- Tap Card.
- To add a tip, enter a fixed amount by tapping the numbered buttons. You can also tap and move the slider to increase the tip percentage.
- To confirm the total amount tap

- On the next screen
- To initiate the transaction, tap the payment card on the device, or
- To cancel the transaction, tap X.
- Tap the Payment card, and the transaction processes,
- A red screen with a cross indicates the device did not successfully read the card. You can attempt to read the card again or use a different card.
- A green screen with a check indicates the device read the card successfully. After a few moments,
- If the Transaction successful message and an authorization code appears. Tap OK to continue.

- If the Transaction was declined message appears. Tap OK to return to the order screen.
