You can offer products via the SiteMinder integration and help your guests customize their stay for a fulfilling experience while increasing your revenue. You just need to map your products in Mews and Mews automatically assigns them to reservations once they arrive in the system. However, not all channels can send products with a unique mapping code to SiteMinder. You can learn more about this here.
There are several ways to offer products to your customers through SiteMinder. You can package your products with rates or upsell them.
In this article you can learn about how to offer:
Packaged products
You can package products and ensure that they're added to your channel manager reservations. For example, a Bed and Breakfast package. To offer a packaged product:
If the product is charged per night or per person per night
Step 1: Map the product
- In the SiteMinder integration settings page, click Channel manager products.
- Click the + button.
- Under Product code, enter any number. It doesn't matter which number you choose. Adding a number in this field makes it possible to package the product with a rate. Note: When you enter a random number here, you cannot upsell this product as you can offer an upsell product with a SiteMinder code only.
- Under Product, choose the product you want to map.
- Click Create.
Repeat steps 2-5 for every product that you want to send to SiteMinder.
Step 2: Connect the product to a mapped rate
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Marketplace > My subscriptions.
- Locate the SiteMinder integration and click Edit to go to the settings page.
- Click Channel manager rates.
- Find the rate you want to package a product with, and click on the Rate code.
- Click + and then click + Channel manager product.
- Under Product, select the product you want.
- Click Create.
Repeat steps 5-7 for every product that you want to package with a rate. Use the same rate to package it with multiple products.
Note:
- As the SiteMinder integration does not support prices for different guest counts, Mews always sends the rates based on the standard occupancy of a space category. For example, suppose the standard occupancy of a space category is two persons. If the rate is 100 and the mapped product is 10, then Mews sends only 120.
- When Mews receives a reservation from SiteMinder, the system adds the number of mapped products based on the number of guests in the reservation. For example, if the standard occupancy of a space category is two persons, but the received reservation is for one person. Mews adds only 1 product to this reservation.
You can package these products, but you can also automatically add them to the reservation if you create a product rule. You can learn more about packaged products here.
If the product is charged once or per person
You cannot map these products. You need to create a product rule instead.
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Settings > Services.
- Click on a Bookable service.
- From the Settings menu, click Product rules and then click +.
- Under Action, select Add.
- Under Product, choose the product that you want to be added to a reservation.
- Choose the condition that needs to be met for the product to be added to the reservation. For example, if you want the product to be added when the reservation is made with a specific rate:
-
- Under Rate condition, select Equals.
- Under Rate, select the rate you want the product packaged with.
- Under Origin condition, select Equals and,
- Under Origin, select Channel manager.
Upsell products
You can upsell your products by offering products to your customers to book along with their stay. For example, parking, a dinner special, or a spa treatment. Note: You can map a product with any charging rule as an upsell product.
To map upsell products
- In the SiteMinder integration settings page, click Channel manager products.
- Click +.
- In Product code, enter a unique code for this product. Mews recommends that you create a short code to describe the product. For example, “PKR” for “Parking”. NOTE: Do not include any spaces or special characters in this code.
- Under Product, choose the product you want to map.
- Click Create.
