Product rules in availability blocks in Mews Operations

When you create an availability block and select an Original rate, Mews automatically copies the product rules from that rate to the block rate. Product rules determine which products Mews automatically adds to reservations, for example, breakfast or parking. You do not need to configure products manually after creating the block.

 

This article is for reservations and revenue teams who set up availability blocks and want products applied consistently to picked-up reservations.

What product rules are inherited

When you select an Original rate for your availability block, Mews copies all product rules from that rate to the custom block rate. Reservations you pick up from the block automatically include the same products as reservations from the original rate.

 

Note: Mews does not display a preview of the specific inherited product rules on the block setup screen. You can view the products on individual reservations after you pick them up.

 

When inheritance applies

Product rule inheritance applies to new availability blocks you create, and to changes you make to the Original rate of an existing block.

 

Note: Mews does not apply product rule inheritance retroactively. This does not affect blocks you created before this feature was available.

What you see in Mews Operations

When you create an availability block and select an Original rate, Mews indicates on the block setup screen that it inherits product rules from the original rate. Mews does not show a preview of the specific rules at this stage.

 

The system uses a copy of the rate for this block, including any product rules you set for the original rate. Changes apply only to this block, not the original rate.
