Generate reports for the ISTAT in Italy

This integration automatically generates a report that includes all of the required information for Italian properties that need to send a monthly report to the ISTAT, the Instituto Nazionale di Statistica. If you're in the Valle D'Aosta region of Italy, follow the steps in this guide instead.

Note: This is not a direct integration. You need to manually upload the generated report on the ISTAT platform.

In this article, you can learn about how to:

Set up the integration

Note: In Mews Operations, the system generates the reports per property account. If local authorities require you to create reports per address, rather than one report for your entire enterprise, you need to:

  1. Create an Italian tourist export integration for each address, and
  2. Select all of the space categories located at that address when you set up the integration.

To set up the integration:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu, go to the main menu > Marketplace.
  2. Click More categories, then open the Legal environment section.
  3. Locate the ISTAT tourist export integration for your region, and click Explore.
  4. Click to select your service.
  5. Click Connect integration.
  6. Fill in the following fields:
    • Service: Select the service for which you generate the report.
    • Space category: Select the space categories you want to include in the report. When you need to create reports per address select all of the space categories located at one address. Note: If you don't specify any space categories, the report includes all your space categories.
    • Recipient emails: Enter the email address of the person at your property who sends the export to the ISTAT.
    • Daily report execution time: If you want to send the police report at a specific time each day, enter the amount of time past midnight to send the report. For example, setting it to 0 hours and 10 minutes sends the report each day at 00:10.
  7. Click Create.
  8. Click OK.

Verify and send the report

  1. Check the Recipient emails' inbox or the Mews Operations notifications.
    • If you receive the export with no error file, it contains all the required information. You can send it to the appropriate ISTAT officials for your region.
    • If you receive a zip file containing the export and an error file named error.txt, continue to the next step.
  2. Open the error file to understand the missing information required by the ISTAT. Correct the information in Mews Operations. Note: If you correct the errors in the export instead of in Mews Operations, you need to make the same corrections in the future if a guest with an incomplete profile returns to your property.
  3. Export the customer profile report again.
    • If you're in Puglia, make sure to select In house under the Mode filter when you manually export the report.
    • If you're in Milan, make sure to select Arrival under the Mode filter when you manually export the report.
    • In all other regions, make sure to select Overlapping under the Mode filter.

Note: You need to select the correct more for all customer profile report integrations to maintain the consistency of exported data. If you use an incorrect mode, the export fails and generates an error message. Mews set up all police reports to only allow exporting in legally accepted modes. By default, Mews creates the Puglia report in the In house mode, the Milan report in the Arrival mode, and reports for all other regions in the Overlapping mode.
  4. Send the report to the appropriate ISTAT officials for your region.

Use the integration

To ensure the completeness of your report, you need to attach every guest to their reservation as a companion with a completed customer profile. This includes guests who created the reservation and whose names are already attached. You still need to add them as companions to the reservation.

The ISTAT requires the following fields for this report:

  • Title
  • Birth date
  • Nationality
  • Address
  • City
  • Country

Additionally, all Italian properties need to generate a monthly report for the Italian police, which requires additional fields. You can generate this report using the Italian police integration.
