Financial analytics is a part of Mews Analytics. It gives you detailed insights into your property’s financial data, and an overview of your property’s financial performance.
You can use Financial analytics to:
- Understand your revenue by breaking it down by service, department, or product. Identify what's working and where to improve.
- Analyze expenses to spot trends and cut costs without losing quality.
- Forecast budgets with historical data to manage cash flow and plan effectively.
- Determine which parts of your business are most profitable and adjust your strategies.
- Automate financial reporting for compliance and transparent stakeholder insights.
- Make quick, informed decisions using current financial data to boost performance.
- Use financial analytics to find and fix inefficiencies, streamline processes, and reduce waste.
Financial analytics is available within Mews Analytics. You can have it as a paid add-on with all product packages, and it is inclusive with Enterprise subscription. Note: Enterprise subscription users need to enable the Mews Analytics integration for each property in their chain before use.
To access Financial analytics, in Mews Operations,
- go to the main menu
> Analytics > Financial analytics, or
- in the top search bar type in the first few letters of the name of the report, for example, “financial...” and choose the report from the suggested searches.

The dashboard data represents all financial metrics and trends gathered from your property(s). The report bases the data on financial transactions, revenue analysis, and tracking of expenditures.
Note:
- By default, Financial analytics includes data on all revenue and expense types in your property, such as stays, food and beverage, and other ancillary services. You can customize filters to focus on specific revenue streams or expense categories.
- Taxes and fees, including city tax, appear as distinct categories in your financial data, allowing for accurate fiscal reporting.
The dashboard displays data per registered property in Mews for multi-property enterprises.
The system loads data into the dashboard every 12 hours, and data is usually between 8 - 12 hours old. Updated data is available every day at 9:00 UTC and at 21:00 UTC.
Note: The exact time might vary based on the amount of data contained in the update.
Data parameters:
The Accounting report tab shows you a list of your revenue, transactions, outlets, and payments, grouped by either Service name or Accounting Category.
In this tab you can find your revenue represented in a bar chart, split between additional revenue, services, and products. You can find the full list of revenue items underneath.
You can also use this tab to visualize your revenue, divided per service.
The Credit card transactions tab contains a list of all credit card transactions within the time period you select. You can easily change the time period by entering a different value in the filters. You can learn more about the filters in Mews Analytics here.
The two graphs on this report represent the:
- Amounts charged, by type of credit card.
- Charged amount by format, for example, virtual or physical card.
The Credit card state tab contains a bar graph showing the state of credit card payments for preauthorization's within the time period you select. You can adjust the time period using the filters.
You can find a table listing the card payments under the bar chart. To refine the table, click on the bar to refine the information displayed on the table below. For example, if you click Charged, the table only shows charged card payments.
This tab shows you a full list of your cancellations that have non-cancelled ordered items on them. The report orders items by date.
This VAT rate tab provides a list with your revenue and the corresponding tax rate, grouped by Accounting category or item type.
Using Financial analytics
You can use the data in Financial analytics as a revenue management tool to keep up with shifts in demand, assess financial health and plan for the future of your business.

You can apply filters to refine your data in Financial analytics. This is useful to customize your reports to show specific data, to analyze trends, quickly identify anomalies, and more.
Filters
You can export the data from different sections of the dashboard to Excel, to easily view your Financial analytics data according to the filters selected.
To export data from each section:
- Hover over the relevant data section.
- Click on More options
.
- Click on Export data.
- Select which data type and format, i.e., summarized data in .csv.
The data exports in the format you select.
Note: Power BI limits data exports to 150,000 rows for XLS, and 30,000 for CSV files.
