How to set up a parent room?

In Mews you can set up dependencies between the different space types such as bed, room, apartment, etc.

 

Two common scenarios to set up a parent room are in a hotel, where two adjacent rooms can be sold as one, and in a hostel where you have a dormitory with multiple beds.

 

To set up a parent room, follow these steps:

 

Note: you must create all the spaces and space categories (parent and child, dorm and beds) beforehand: Create, modify, or delete a space, Create or delete a space category.

 

 

  1. Go to Main Menu > Settings > Property > Space configuration > Spaces
  2. Select one of the adjacent rooms.
  3. In the Parent room field, select from the drop-down menu the space you wish to make the parent room.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Repeat for the other space.
  6. Now your spaces are correctly reflected on the Timeline and can be booked individually or as one, depending on your availability setup.
 
 
Note: When assigning a parent to a room, if there is any OOO (out of order), OOS (out of service), or House use blocking the parent room that coincides with an OOO, OOS, or House use in the child room, then the block in the child room is automatically removed to avoid overlapping.
 
 

What's the best configuration for reporting on parent and child spaces?

 

The easiest way for reports to differentiate between parent and child spaces is to set the space type of the parent space to be different from the child space. This way it is possible to filter by space type in most of the reports.
