Online check-in allows guests to complete their check-in formalities in the Guest Portal before their arrival, such as filling in and signing registration cards. This reduces manual work for staff, saving time for both guests and employees. By checking in online, guests avoid long queues upon arrival, ensuring a stress-free experience. Mews automatically saves registration cards that the guests complete during online check-in to relevant customer profiles in Mews Operations.

There are various ways to encouraging more and more guests to check in online. Customizing check in messages can increase online check ins by up to 60%.  You can learn more about customizing your emails here.  You can also offer products to guests such as breakfast, early check ins or pet fees.

How to set up online check-in in Mews Operations

You can set up the online check-in within the setup page for your bookable services in Mews Operations.  

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu   > Settings > Services
  2. Click to select a Bookable service, for example, Stay or Accommodation. If you have services such as meeting rooms, co-working spaces set up, you can tailor-make the check in for these services too.

Configuring your check in process includes,  

  • adding check in instructions,
  • adding house rules, 
  • configuring the check in form, and
  • inviting guests to online check-in.

You can refer to each of the below processes to configure your online check-in process. 

 

How to add a check in instructions

  1. Click Documents and then click  + .
  2. Under Type, click Instructions to check in. Note: You can learn more about how to set up the various guest-facing documents including your Terms & Conditions and Privacy policy available under the Type option here
  3. Click Create.
  4. Enter your check in instructions, and click Save. 
This message appears to the guest on the last screen of the online check-in process.

How to add house rules

    1. Click Documents and then click  +.
    2. Under Type, select Rules. Note: You can learn more about how to set up the various guest-facing documents including your Terms & Conditions and Privacy policy available under the Type option here.
    3. Click Create.
    4. Enter your property's house rules. Include any important information such as images or links. Note: You can copy/ paste or drag and drop an image directly into the description field.
    5. Click Save

    Note:  

    • Guests consent to your property's house rules when signing in to online check-in. You can learn more about the online check-in journey here
    • After the guests checks in online, the system confirms presentation of your house rules on the guest’s digital registration card.  
     

    How to configure your check in form

    By default, Mews sets up your registration cards to request all the information required by law in your country. If you want to request more information from guests, you can customize your check in form at any time. You can learn more about how to customize your check in form here.

    This sets up online check-in in your property. Guests then receive an invitation to online check-in through their emails.
