If your property has revenue sources separate from accommodation that take payments from outside Mews, for example, if you have a bar or restaurant that takes direct payments, you can connect them both in Mews Operations and your point of sale integration, by setting up outlets.
Before you set up an outlet, you need to:
- Connect with a point of sale integration
- Create a service for each of your outlets
- Create an accounting category for each of your outlets
Outlets track external revenue. Therefore, you cannot use Mews Operations to track revenue from your outlets without external software, which is usually a point of sale integration.
In this article you can learn about how to:
- Create an outlet
- Connect outlet to your point-of-sale integration
- Find the OutletID
- Find the ServiceID
- Check your outlet revenue
Create an outlet
- Go to the main menu
> Settings > Property.
- Click on Outlets.
- Click the
+button. - Enter the name of the outlet.
- Click Create. You need to repeat this step for every cost center in your property. For example, one outlet for your bar and one for your restaurant).
Connect outlet to your point-of-sale integration
Before you can track outlet revenue in Mews Operations, ensure that you connect your outlets to a service and an accounting category.
The process of connecting your outlets to services and accounting categories differs depending on which point of sale system you use, but you may need to find mapping IDs.
Find the OutletID
- Go to the main menu
> Property.
- Click on Outlets.
- Click on the name of the outlet you want to find the ID for.
- The "OutletID" is the long code at the end of the URL of this page, i.e., all that follows after the last " / ".
Find the ServiceID
- Go to the main menu
> Settings > Services.
- Click on the name of the service you want to find the ID for.
- The "ServiceID" is the long code at the end of the URL of this page, i.e., all that follows after the last " / ".
Check your outlet revenue
- Go to the main menu
> Finance > Accounting report.
- Mews lists the revenue from your outlets in two places:
- Mews lists the revenue that was put on a guest bill in the Revenue section.
- Mews lists the revenue from payments received at the cost center, for example the bar, in the Outlets section.
Note: If you take money through your outlets but the Outlets section of the Accounting report doesn't display this, you need to make sure that you map your outlets to accounting categories. Otherwise, it is difficult to know the revenue source.
