Getting started with Mews Business Intelligence

Mews Business Intelligence is the analytics workspace in Mews Operations and Mews Multi-Property that helps you monitor, analyze, and report on your property or portfolio's performance. As a property manager, revenue manager, finance team member, or administrator, you use it to track key metrics such as revenue, occupancy, and reservations, and to support data-driven decisions during daily operations and reporting.

 

All Mews customers have access to Business Intelligence, which includes a set of pre-built dashboards designed to help you monitor performance without setup. For more advanced reporting, Business Intelligence Pro provides full customization capabilities, including custom dashboards, visualizations, and metrics. Business Intelligence Pro is included in the Enterprise, Portfolio, and Brand subscription tiers, or you can purchase it as an add-on in the Mews Marketplace.

 

You can use Business Intelligence to:

  • Monitor daily performance and trends
  • Analyze revenue, occupancy, and booking activity
  • Compare performance across time periods or properties
  • Create, schedule, and export dashboard data with your team

 


Note

  • Business Intelligence provides curated dashboards only. For full customization functionalities, upgrade to Business Intelligence Pro.
  • If you want to upgrade to use all the customizable functionalities, you can purchase Business Intelligence Pro as an add-on in the Mews Marketplace.
  • Data refreshes in Mews Business Intelligence every two hours.

Accessing Mews Business Intelligence

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu main menu >  Business Intelligence > Overview. business intelligence 
  1. Select a dashboard, for example, the Pickup dashboard.

The dashboard opens with your property performance data.

 

You can now access analytics and dashboards in Mews Business Intelligence.

 

Dashboards organize your data into clear sections and visualizations.

 

You can:

  • View key metrics such as revenue, occupancy, and reservations
  • Scroll through different sections of the dashboard
  • Switch between dashboards based on your needs

 

For example, use the Daily summary dashboard for daily operations and the Revenue dashboard for financial analysis.

Applying filters to refine data

Filters help you focus on specific data.

  1. Locate the filter bar at the top of the dashboard.
  2. Select a filter, for example, Period, Date, Property, or Segment.

  1. Choose your criteria.
  2. Click Apply.

The dashboard updates to reflect your selected filters.

 

Note: Filters apply only to visualizations that support dashboard filtering.

Use visualizations to analyze data

Visualizations display your data in charts, tables, and graphs.

 

You can:

  • Compare performance across time periods
  • Identify trends and patterns
  • Drill into data for more detail

For example, use a line chart to track revenue trends over time or a table to compare performance across properties.

Share and export reports

You can share dashboards or export data for reporting. 

 

Note: It is currently not possible to share the dashboards. This feature is coming soon.

 

To export a dashboard:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu main menu> Business Intelligence > Overview.
  2. Locate and open the dashboard you want to export, for example, ADR.
  3. Click more actionsExport.

  1. Select a format, for example, PDF or Excel. Note: You can export only individual visualizations in CSV format.

  1. Download or send the file.

Creating views

You create views in Mews Business Intelligence to save a set of filters on a dashboard. This helps you quickly switch between different reporting perspectives without reapplying filters each time.

 

Use views to:

  • Save commonly used filter combinations
  • Standardize reporting across teams
  • Quickly switch between different data perspectives

 

For example, you can create one view for This month – Corporate segment and another for Last 30 days – Leisure segment.

 

To do so:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu main menu> Business Intelligence > Overview.
  2. Select a dashboard, for example, ADR. 
  3. Select a filter to apply using the filter bar, for example, Data range.

  1. Click Apply. This applies the filter. 
  2. Click My views.

  1. Click + Create view.

  1. Enter a name for the view.
  2. Click Save.

The system saves your filter configuration as a reusable view. You can now quickly access this view without setting filters again.

 

To use a saved view:

  1. Open the same dashboard in Business Intelligence, for example, ADR. 
  2. Click the My views dropdown.

  1. Select a saved view. 

The dashboard updates automatically with the saved filters. You can now switch between different reporting scenarios. 

 

Note: Views only save filters. They do not save dashboard layout or visualizations.

 

Manage views

  • Update a view by adjusting filters and clicking Save view again
  • Set a view as default from the My saved views section. 
  • Delete a view from the My saved views section by clicking trash icon Delete.

Create and customize dashboards

Note: Customizable functionalities are only available for Business Intelligence Pro users. Upgrade to gain access or purchase in the Mews Marketplace.

 

You can create dashboards to match your reporting needs.

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu main menu> Business Intelligence > Overview.

  1. In the Business Intelligence Pro overview screen, click Create dashboard.

  1. Add visualizations to the dashboard.
  2. Arrange and resize widgets as needed.
  3. Click Save.

You can now use a custom dashboard tailored to your workflow. It saves to the Custom dashboards tab in Business Intelligence Pro.
