Customers content with your service may want to leave a tip when they pay for their order, as a reward for your service. To accept tips in the Mews POS app, you first need to enable tipping for your payment methods. You can learn how to configure your payment methods using the Mews POS web dashboard here.
If you are not using a Mews Terminal, you can add a tip on your external PDQ device during the order payment transaction, and then record the payment within Mews POS.
Note: To avoid discrepancies between reports, enter your tips in the Mews POS system once your customer pays.
To add a tip when using an external PDQ device:
- On your external PDQ device, enter the total order amount.
- Ask the customer to tap, insert, or swipe their card.
- Print the receipt for your reference.
- In the Mews POS app, open the order you want to charge.
- Tap

- On the payment screen, tap the PDQ payment method.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Received amount: Enter the total amount your guest paid.
- Tip amount: Enter the tip amount you received.
- Tap CONFIRM CASH PAYMENT. To send the receipt to the guest, tap:

- Send via SMS,
- Send via e-mail, or
- Print.
- Tap OK.
When the system confirms the payment, you receive an automatic confirmation message. You can view the payment, including the tip, in the invoice list.
