How to configure your kitchen receipt template in Mews POS

Kitchen receipts serve as an essential communication link between your service staff and chefs. When your service staff sends an order through the Mews POS app, the chefs begin preparing the items based on the kitchen receipt they receive.

As a Mews POS administrator, you can configure certain aspects of the kitchen receipt template using the web dashboard. This helps you organize the information you send to the chefs and streamlines your kitchen operations.

To configure your kitchen receipt template in Mews POS:

  1. Sign in the Mews POS web dashboard as an administrator.
  2. Click Settings > Templates.
  3. Click on the Choose Receipt template drop-down in the top-right corner, then click Kitchen.

  1. Print items on course away: A course away note alerts the kitchen staff that a customer awaits the next course. You can learn more about sending course-away notes in Mews POS here.
    • Click to slide the switch to the right, to turn on printing both the next course’s name and its items on each course away note.
    • Click to slide left to only print the next course’s name on the note.
  2. Add empty space on top:
    • Click to slide the switch to right to add the top-margin space on kitchen receipts, useful for attaching the receipt to a clip.
    • Click to slide the switch to left to remove the top-margin space and reduce paper usage.
  3. Split order into courses:
    • Click to slide the switch right to divide the kitchen order into individual receipts, with each one dedicated to a distinct course. This is particularly useful when multiple chefs, using a single printer, prepare different courses.
    • Click to slide left to consolidate all courses onto a single kitchen receipt.
  4. Click Save.

To view the changes, reload the kitchen template, or print a test receipt from the Mews POS app.
