Central segments are portfolio-wide segments that you define once at the headquarters level and assign to properties across your portfolio. As a portfolio administrator or revenue manager, you create central segments so your group uses consistent segment definitions across every property, giving you a single view of portfolio performance for revenue analysis and steering. You create central segments in Mews Multi-Property when setting up a new portfolio, when expanding to new properties, or when adding a new segment to your reporting structure.

How to create central segments in Mews Multi-Property
To create central segments:
-
In your portfolio account, go to the main menu
> Segments.
The Segments screen lists every centrally managed segment in your portfolio, with the name, services, segment key, and number of assigned properties and services.
Step 1: Create central segment
To start creating a central segment:
- In the top right of the screen, select Create segment.
- In the Starting point step, select one of the following options:
- Start from scratch to create a central segment with a blank template.
- Use existing configuration to pre-fill the segment from a local segment in one of your properties.
-
Select Next.
Note: Use existing configuration is useful when you already have a segment set up in one property and want to standardize it across your portfolio.
Step 2: Add segment details
- In the Details step, enter a Name for the segment. The name identifies the segment within Mews and must be unique across your portfolio. Note: There is a 70-character limit.
- Enter a Segment key. The segment key maps the segment to an external system or integration.
- Select Next.
Step 3: Configure services
- In the Configuration step, click to open the Service dropdown.
- Select a service that the segment applies to. Only central services are listed.
- Select Save.
The new central segment appears in the Central segments tab. Values you set at the central level are saved as portfolio-wide defaults and are automatically applied to each property when you assign the segment for the first time.
