How to create a service in Mews Multi‑Property

You create services in Mews Multi‑Property to define portfolio-wide offerings like accommodation, or parking. When you create a service, you set up the default details and configurations that apply to all properties where the service is assigned. You do this from the Services tab in Mews Multi‑Property. This helps you manage services consistently across properties and save time by applying a single template.

To create a central service from a local service, you can learn more in the help article How to create central service from a local service in Mews Multi-Property.

Complete the Details and Configuration steps.

Step 1: Add service details

Details define a service’s identity, visibility, and appearance. The system saves these values as portfolio-wide defaults and applied to every property where the service is assigned.

Details side window of create a new service in MMP

This step has three sections:

  • Identity: Set the identity information about the service. You can set multiple languages for guest-facing fields to accommodate your guests. Fields marked with * are mandatory.
    • Multilingual details: Select languages from the drop down.
    • Name*: Enter a unique name for the service.
    • Short name: The system generates a short name. Type to edit or refine it.
    • Description: Type to enter a description of the service.

You can translate these fields. The system preselects the default language of each property. You can add more languages if you require.

Note: The system copies the values you enter in the default language to other languages on saving but does not overwrite them during edits.

  • Visibility: Use this section to control how your service is positioned for staff in lists and dashboards, and to set an external ID for integrations or reporting.
    • Ordering: Click to set the order.
    • Service key: The system pre-fills the service key from the name and replaces the former “External ID.” It must be unique across the portfolio. Type to edit.
  • Image: Click or drag to add an image to represent the service on guest-facing interfaces like the Mews Booking Portal or select Choose file to upload one.

Step 2: Setting configuration settings

Configuration settings define how the service behaves. The system saves these as the portfolio-wide default template and automatically apply when you assign the service to a property. Fields marked with * are mandatory.
