Text Messaging Package for Mews Operations

The Text Messaging Package is a direct integration that you can use to send reminders to your guests via SMS messages. This add-on package sends online check-in reminder messages for all those services where you enabled Online check-in emails and after check-in messages to the services you select during configuration. Starting at €50 per month, you can send approximately 500 SMS reminders. The exact number of messages you can send for €50 varies as SMS prices are based on the country of origin of your guest's phone number. You can also set a maximum monthly budget with automatic €10 top-ups available to send as many messages as you need.

Note

  • You need to have Admin permissions to connect to an integration in the Mews Marketplace. 
  • Base prices vary according to invoicing currency, for example, $50 USD, £40 GBP, $60 CAD and $70 AUD. To see a list of country prices in USD, click here or go to the Text Messaging Package page in Mews Marketplace.  
  • There is a 30-day cancellation period during which you can decide if you still want to send SMS reminders. If you choose to reinstate the add-on during these 30 days, you can carry over any unused credit left in your account.
  • The add-on sends SMSes only for services with the Online check-in email enabled. You can disable this by disabling the Online check-in email for that service.   

  

Connecting the add-on  

Once you connect the add-on, Mews automatically activates the add-on on subscription and initiates SMS message delivery either on the same day at 9 am or the following day, depending on the time of subscription.:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu   > Marketplace
  2. Search for the Text Messaging Package integration and click Explore. 
  3. Click Subscribe 

 

Configuring the add-on 

How to configure the general settings 

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu   > Marketplace > My subscriptions.
  2. Locate the Text Messaging Package integration and click Edit to go to the settings page.  
  3. Ensure the Enabled check box is checked to send SMS messages. NoteYou can temporarily stop sending SMS messages by unchecking the box. This does not disconnect the integration.
  4. Under Maximum monthly budget select the maximum amount you want to spend for this add-on. Note: If you don’t fully use up the base budget of €50 or the top-up in the current month, the add-on carries it over to the next month and does not expire. However, any unused budget is not subject to a refund. You can learn more about this here.
  5. Click Save.   

  
How to configure text messaging 

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu   > Settings > Property > Guest experience > Text messaging.
  2. In the General tab:
    • Short name: Enter the name you want the SMS message to display as the sender. This needs to be under 11 characters, including spaces. Note: If you do not include a name, Mews cannot begin sending SMS reminders.   
    • Exclude countries: Click to select any countries you want to exclude from receiving SMS messages. Note: If you do not exclude any countries, Mews sends reminders to guests from all currently supported countries.   
  3. In the Online check-in tab: 
    • Ensure the Activate SMS slider switch is on. Note: Mews sends online check-in reminders to all services where you enabled Online check-in emails.
    • Language: Click to select the language you want the system to send your SMS messages in. 
  4. In the After check-in tab: 
    • Ensure the Activate SMS slider switch is on.
    • Services: Click to select the services you want to send this SMS message for.
    • Language: Click to select the language you want the system to send your SMS messages in. 
  5. Click Save.
  6. Apply for registration, if applicable. Certain areas require registration before you can begin sending SMS messages to guests. This registration is necessary depending on the guest's country, for example, the United States, and not the property's location. You can learn more about registration here.

Note:  

  • Currently, you cannot customize the text in the SMS messages.

Unsubscribing from the add-on 

You can unsubscribe and stop billing at any time. To unsubscribe:

  1. In Mews Operations, go to the main menu   > Marketplace > My subscriptions.
  2. Locate the Text Messaging Package integration and click on Edit to go to the settings page.
  3. Click Unsubscribe. 

 

Once you unsubscribe, you have a 30-day cancellation period to change your mind. Click Reinstate to subscribe again.
