How to cancel a reservation in Mews Operations

In case of a cancellation request, missed confirmation, or invalid payment, you can cancel a reservation for which your guests did not check in, if it is within the Operational editable history window. This makes the space available for a new booking.

 

You can also undo a cancellation by restoring the reservation if it is within the Operational editable history window. 

To cancel a reservation in Mews Operations:

  1. In the search field, enter the reservation’s Confirmation number, Space number, or Group name.
  2. Click the reservation. Note: When you have multiple reservations in a group, select all the reservations you want to cancel, to cancel them simultaneously.  
  3. In the Status tab, you can cancel the reservation in the Cancellation section:

 

    • Reason: Click to select one of the following reasons for canceling the reservation:
      • COVID-19
      • Other
      • Confirmation missed
      • Booked elsewhere
      • Force majeure
      • Guest complaint
      • No show
      • Price is too high
      • Service not available
      • Input error
      • Invalid payment
      • Travel agency
      • Requested by guest
      • Update
      • Booking abandoned
      • Requested by booker
    • Details: Enter relevant details about canceling the reservation that your staff can verify in the Action log tab or the Reservation report.
    • Apply cancellation fee: Check the box to apply the cancellation fee when canceling the reservation.
    • Send email to customer and booker: Check the box if you want Mews to send a cancellation confirmation email to the guest and booker. Note: If you deselect this option, Mews does not send a cancellation email after canceling the reservation.
  1. Click Cancel.

Note:

  • If you cancel a reservation with a closed bill, Mews automatically creates a rebate to cancel out the bill. After cancellation, Mews sets the consumption date of bill items to the date and time of their rebate.
  • You cannot cancel a reservation that is currently in-house. If a guest needs to leave early, shorten the reservation and proceed with the check-out process.
