How to increase the percentage of online check-ins at your property

Online check-in allows guests to complete their check-in formalities in the Guest Portal before their arrival, such as fill in and sign registration cards. This reduces manual work for staff, saving time for both guests and employees. By checking in online, guests avoid long queues upon arrival, ensuring a stress-free experience. Mews automatically saves registration cards that the guests complete during online check-in to relevant customer profiles in Mews Operations.

To increase the percentage of online check-ins:

  • Customize your emails: Make sure you have the link to online check-in in your Confirmation and Online check-in email. Include an explanation of why your guests should do it and what the benefits are.
  • Send online check-in reminders: Purchase the SMS add-on integration to automatically send online check-in reminders to guests via text message.
  • Enable the Digital Key: Allow guests who check in online to skip the line and go straight to their rooms with the Digital Key. You can also promote online check-in directly at your property by creating a "fast lane" in your lobby.
  • Promote it offline: If you are a hotel chain, you can train your staff to motivate guests waiting in the line to check in online and skip the line.
  • Promote it on Booking.com and other OTAs: Use your own messaging, images, and copy.
  • Offer your guests something extra for checking in online, like a bottle of wine or a welcome drink.
