The Mews app is a fully mobile solution that lets you serve your guests from anywhere you are. You can use the Mews app to reply to guests’ messages, handle spaces on your property, and manage your tasks.
Note: You can install the Mews app on mobile devices that run on Android 7+ or iOS 12+.

How to download and set up the Mews app
You can download the Mews app from the Android Play Store or iOS App Store.,
Once you install and open the app:
- Tap on Select Environment and select Production
- Tap Confirm.
- Sign in using your Mews credentials.
Note:
- The Mews app supports different text sizing and adjusts to the reading size chosen in your mobile device's settings. You can learn more about adjusting your text size for iOS here and for Android here.
- On your device settings, keep Automatic updates switched on so that your Mews app automatically updates to the latest version.
Using the Mews app functionalities
When you open the app, it always displays the Spaces tab first. The name of the property you are logged into appears at the top of the screen.
The Mews app includes the following tabs:
Spaces
This is the tab where you can:
- View the status of spaces at your property, including for those with child spaces. You can tap
or touch the screen and pull down to refresh. To locate a space, you have two options:
- In the search bar, type the space number or name, to filter for a particular space.

- Use the
filter option to search by Assignee, States, Floors, Reservations, or Service.
- If you assign a housekeeper to clean spaces on the first floor, they can choose the appropriate filters. For example, filter by, Floors: 1, States: Dirty and Reservations: Departed, to get an update on all departed rooms on the first floor with the state dirty.
- Housekeepers can view the Space category, or space Classification that needs cleaning, so that they can organize their tasks, for example, the linen or cleaning supplies for a single, double, or deluxe room.
- To view stayovers from the previous night and clean them accordingly, housekeepers can choose to filter by Reservations: Stayovers, with States: Dirty.
- To view and inspect all cleaned spaces, a head housekeeper can choose Floors: All, States: Clean and Reservations: Departed.
- Use the
- Assign spaces to employees. Click
to assign spaces of any Space type, space Status, Floors, Reservations status, or Space category among the housekeepers currently working at your property. You can learn more about assigning spaces to employees for housekeeping using the Mews app here.
- Update a space's status after cleaning or inspection.
- In the search bar, type the space number or name to directly go to the space.
- Tap the space to open the Space detail screen.
- Status: Tap to select a new status.
- Reason for state: You can provide a reason for a change in housekeeping status that you can view in the Space status report.
- Click Save.
You can also swipe on the space you want to update and select the new status.
Point Of Sale
The Point of Sale tab allows employees with the Create and manage customers and companies permission to add products to a customer's bill directly from the app. For example, housekeepers can add items from the minibar to a customer's bill from the app itself.
Note:
- Housekeepers can add items to the bill for checked in guests only. For a guest who checked out, Mews creates a task for the responsible department to check the bill and charge the guest, if necessary.
- The Minibar is an Additional service. To use this service, you need to create an Additional service in Mews Operations.
To enable employees to add products from a particular service to a customer's bill from the app, in Mews Operations, select the Offer to employee option for all those products on the configuration page of that service. For example, to allow your employees to add products from the Minibar to a customer's bill:
- In Mews Operations, go to the main menu
> Services > Minibar > Products.
- For every product you want to allow your employees to add to a customer's bill., in the Options field, choose Offer to employee.
Now, employees can add "Offer to employee" enabled products to a customer's bill from the app, as follows:
- In the Point of Sale tab, enter the guest name or space number in the Search bar.
- Tap on the guest's name, then choose the products under the Search services bar. For example, to add products from the minibar, tap on Minibar.
- Add the quantity of the products you want to add to the customer's bill.
- Tap on View summary to view details.
- Tap on Add to bill to add to the customer's bill. Press Yes to confirm.
You can see the items you add from the Mews app in the customer's Billing screen in Mews.
Messages
Use the Messages tab to communicate with Internal users and Customers.
Note: You can create and send new messages only to internal users with the Mews app. To create a new message thread with a guest, use the desktop application.
To read and reply to the guest’s messages from the Customers tab:
- Enable Receive customer messages option in your employee profile. Only users with this option enabled can respond to guest’s messages.
- To reply to a message, click on the message, type your message at the bottom of the screen, and send it.
The Mews app displays new, unread messages with a blue dot on the left of the customer's name. You receive notifications for unread messages on the app.
Tasks
You can create and manage tasks using the Tasks tab.
- To create a new task, tap on the
+icon. - To update a task, click on it to update the details. Tap on Save.
- To mark a task as complete, click on Resolve, or just swipe left.
You receive an alert via push notification when assigned a new task and also on task completion. To view the tasks assigned to you.

- From Assignee, select My tasks.
- Tap Save.
- In the Tasks tab, you can view tasks under the tabs: Missed, Today, or All Tasks.
Tap on a task to open it and view more details, such as the space number and reservation details. This allows you to identify the space for the assigned tasks.
The Mews app updates any tasks that you add or resolve through the app on the Mews Dashboard.
Profile
In the Profile, tap on:
- Switch property: To switch between properties, if you have access to more than one.
- Account: To change your Mews user account information
- Profile: Update your personal user information and user photo.
- Preferences: Update your language and region settings.
- Privacy and security: Modify your login security measures, such as turn on two-factor authentication or change your account password.
- Dark mode: To switch between the app's color modes.
- App lock: To enable app lock and unlock using your mobile device PIN or biometrics.
- Sign out: To sign out of the Mews app.
